RE:MARCH CHAT
(Date Posted:03/01/2015 11:08 AM)

Hello and Welcome to March!

Is it coming in like a Lion, or like a Lamb?  We still have tons of snow and it's supposed to continue for much of the week, but I suppose that could still be "lamb-like" ~ or not.  Actually very pretty out this morning.

A do nothing day for me yesterday. Watched a lot of TV and felt very non-productive.  Ha.  We watched several of the Good Witch Movies and then the new TV Series.  We liked the new series, and I hope we like it when it's in it's one hour format as much as we did in the initial two hour format. I thought they really handled the transition well.

Then we Binge Watched several more episodes of  House of Cards.  We also got a new episode of Murdoch Mysteries (called The Artful Detective, on Ovation)  This was the second episode, and the second half of "On the Waterfront"  I really do like that series.

Tonight, the 2 hour season finale of Downton Abby!    Does The Good Wife start tonight, too?   My online TV schedule is messed up right now.

Yesterday I had such a terrible allergy attack. My eyes burned, my nose and eyes both ran, it was awful!  So I took a Benedryl before I went to bed and slept until 7 with only one very brief 'get up'.  Lovely!

Mike ordered a new scale for us a few weeks ago because with my balance issues, the old one wouldn't "stick" on a number.  It did register the loss or gain from the previous day, but I couldn't tell what EITHER day's actual number was for sure.  This one is great in that when you step on it, it registers the number and holds it long enough for you to be sure what you are seeing.

Problem was, that my weight didn't even fluctuate for over a week. The same number, down to the 10th, every time I stepped on it.  I told Mike to step on it to see if it came up with the same number for him!   So he did, and no it didn't, but then he said "Oh, I forgot to tell you that it re-calibrates every time you move it.   You have to step one foot on it and then wait until it registers 0.0, and THEN step on it.   So, my number really was the one from the first time I used it!  Of course by the time he told me, I was dressed and had my pills and water and some coffee.   I have no idea now WHAT I weigh, or whether I have gained or lost!   I'm ready to go Jihad John on him!

smiley4

On a happier note, you've done it again!   Lovely new home for us, and great new March thread!  Thank you!!  You weren't satisfied with "just" creating a new home ond a new March thread, but a great new Easter tag, too!  Thank you!!

What could be more wonderful than a really good night's sleep?  I'm so glad we BOTH got one!

I guess that Scotch shows the difference between "them" and "us" Sort of boggles the mind, doesn't it?

RE:MARCH CHAT

That is not meant to be an Easter tag, it is a Spring tag and border as Spring begins in March even if Mother Nature does not abide by the rules, lol. I should have matched my greens on our home page but in my head I thought they were similar, but I was so wrong. Oh, well.

I slept so well the night before that I did not get tired until late, but I still slept well...just not 7+ hours, lol. I am so happy that you slept well too! We should be pretty chipper today. But I really do not plan on doing anything.
We will be watching the season finale of Sister Wives. It is one of my guilty pleasures. I love the wives, I do not really care for they husband Cody. I think he is vain. But I find the lifestyle fascinating. It would not be for me, but I can definitely see some plus sides to it.
I think that Glee only has 4 more episodes and then it is done. I will miss that show a lot.  The musical numbers were outstanding and I adored some of the characters and hated others, lol. This show was a joy to watch. I loved being able to love and loath it, ha!  I would love to see TV movies in the future of where the characters are now. That would be awesome.
I think that when my mom is gone I am going to Marathon Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge. That way I can catch up to where Nan and Louann are at.  I am hoping that they will bring back the series Galavant.  Did you watch any of that?  It was outrageous, hilarious, idiotic and the music was fabulous. I think you would have loved it.  I do not know if it is still On Demand.
I did not know you had allergies. That sucks. I always thought I did until I got tested and they found none. Though I was not tested for food allergies. So my issues were all sinus, respiratory, etc. Hard to tell when something is sinus alone or allergy.
Our scale is the same way.  I have to tap it with my foot and weight till is "zeroes" out and then step on it. Mom and I both have balance issues. I want to see if there is a wider scale out there.  So hard for both of us to step on that little scale and keep our balance. It would be easier with a wider stance. I sway too much and it takes forever for the weight to settle and register. I noted the other day that I dot different weights each time I stepped on it, depending on how I was standing.
Do not even jest about jihad, it freaks me out.
Hugs,

RE:MARCH CHAT
(Date Posted:03/02/2015 10:32 AM)

Looks to be a fairly nice day.  Currently 19 degrees, but heading for a high of 49 and only slight chance of snow, today.  On the other hand, there is currently apparently something called icy fog ~~ Denver has completely disappeared!

We continued our Binge watch of House of Cards, and we have watched the first 11 now, two more to go.   It's addictive!

Last night's Downton Abby, on the other hand ~~~ I cried like a big old baby, and loved it.  I'd love to say more, but I don't want to spoil anything for you.  I envy you a Downton Marathon!  It's so much fun to watch things that way!   We did re-watch the last season in Marathon fashion before Season 5 started.

I have really liked Mr Selfridge and have watched them all up to this season.  For some reason, I have no desire to see this season.  I'm not sure why ~ I know over the time they were gone his wife died and his kids were brought from America.  I just don't love major changes in the cast or the way things are done, so I'm not looking forward to it.   I'm sure once I watch ~~ and I will ~~ I'll enjoy it again.

I don't really have much trouble with allergies normally.  Just every once in a while and if I pop a few pills, I can usually chase them away.

I got on the new scale today, doing things the "right" way, and I am down a big two tenths of a pound.  Better than being up, I guess, but still . . . .   ;-(     I was watching a few minutes of 'The Doctors' the other day before my Soap came on and I had to laugh right out loud.  There is a new study that said the way you are supposed to weigh yourself is ~~~ EVERY DAY!   Too funny!  I used to do that because it kept me focused.  Of course it was disappointing when your weight went up or didn't change, but over all it kept me focused and realizing that I didn't need that cookie.   Of course the "in" logic was that you should NOT weigh every day, and everyone and his uncle felt free ~~~ no, OBLIGATED ~~ to tell me that what I was doing was wrong and chastise me.   Over the years I went to weighing once a week, and then to once in a while ~~~ and while I was overweight before, now I've added a ton of fat.   NOW the NEW STUDY ( don't you love that there is always a New Study?) says go back to the way I was doing it in the first place.  LOL   Can't help laughing.

It's like all of the other 'New Studies' ~~ Don't drink coffee!  It's bad for you!   Now we learn all of the benefits of drinking coffee.   Or eating butter instead of margarine or well you know.  All the other zillion things that THEY say we should or shouldn't do.  THEY can just stay out of my face!   LOL

Have a Mahvelous Monday and thank you for the St Paddy's Tag!

Hello Dorothy

I know there are pros and cons on weighing every day. It can

help you stay on track but at the same time it can cause a lot

of stress if it is not showing what you want it to show.  I have

gone for a happy medium.  I weigh myself about 3 times a

week. there was a time....way back and I was in TOPS and I

was obsessed with losing weight. I had gotten down to about

200 something and felt I was looking good.  But I took a good

look at myself and I was stressing so much.  I lived and

breathed my diet. It was all I thought about and talked

about. I was boring everyone to tears and I did not much like

myself. So I kind of just let it go. Little by little I gained it all

back and then some.  This time I am trying to do it more

naturally and not to stress over it.  I was mad about last

weeks gain, but I just had to let it go and move forward.  I do

not want my diet to become my whole life again.  I have

completely quit drinking soda, which I never thought would

happen.  I drink flavored water, sugar free lemonade and

 water. Not much else.

We are supposed to get snow starting around 2 am and

continuing till about 6pm. Not sure how much they are

predicting. I have to go out on Wed for my annual eye exam

and will have my A1C and other labs that Denise has ordered

done.  So really hoping it is not a lot and not icy.  I am praying

that the out of control diabetes has not done any damage to

my eyes.  At my appt last year it had not.  So we will see.

I do not know why Criminal Minds has not been on the last 2

weeks.  So in it's place I started watching Stalker on On

Demand.  It is interesting and usually very surprising.  And

givers me the creepy factor that Criminal Minds does.

You have a great day.

Hugs,

RE:MARCH CHAT
(Date Posted:03/03/2015 9:50 AM)

Hi, there.
Gonna be a cold one today, well under freezing and a 50% chance of snow all day.  Right now it just looks clear and rather pretty outside.  Denver looks close enough to touch.

I'm just sitting here in my jammies with a sweatshirt and a lap robe, drinking coffee and visiting with you.  Haven't even gotten dressed yet.  I may not until after I watch Prime Minister Netanyahu's speech.   And no, I won't get started.  If I did I'd have to talk about Hillary's emails.

So much to watch, so little time ~ lol.    We did finish House of Cards yesterday.  Mercy!  Lots of questions about things I'm supposed to believe and am not so sure I do, and about what's next.   Definitely not boring!  We watched Gotham and the Following last night and decided it was too much weirdness and meanness for us to "enjoy".  I think we'll continue watching Gotham for now, but we're saying good bye to The Following after having watched the first two seasons.   After we watched them, we watched The Good Wife from Sunday night.

We missed Criminal Minds a week ago because we were watching something else and thought we would watch it later on OnDemand, but it still hasn't appeared there.  We don't watch Stalker.  We watched about 15 minutes of the first episode and decided it wasn't for us.   I enjoy my Serial Killers (laugh), but I prefer they do their killing 'off screen' as much as possible.   While we don't avert our eyes watching some of the darker shows, neither of us enjoys, or even tolerates well, watching torture and cruelty. Good thing there are so many choices of things to watch now.  Bad thing that most of them are so dark and frequently so weird.  Sign of the times, I guess.

Thank you for the lovely tag ~~ you are so prolific these days!  I'm not getting ANYthing done, and you're working your little buns off!
Have a great day!

RE:MARCH CHAT

I heard about Hillary and her email. I am sorry, but that had to be deliberate. She knows what she is doing. And what about all the people (President included) that she emailed. They could see she was not using the correct email. All sounds very weird to me.  Still, so many things in politics are weird to me.

Gov. Walker is going to make my life miserable. His budget cuts may lose me my help with paying my medicare costs and some of my prescription costs. I will be shit out of luck if they all go through. Also the whole Right to Work issue is insane. I know you and I do not agree politically. But I see how these things affect me and my family and friends and it can be devastating.

There has not been a new Criminal Minds in 2 weeks. I do not know why. I am keeping up with Rizzoli and Isles through On Demand. Just easier that way. Both these shows my mom does not like so I watch them when she is not home. When she is at church and when she is at TOPS, lol.

I am prolific with the tags because I belong to 2 groups that you do challenges in to earn points for getting free tubes. One group has 3-4 challenges a week and the other 2-3. So it all depends on that as far as how many tags I get made. I just automatically make one for you and I each time, lol.

Tonight we are watching 19 Kids and Counting, and Our Little Family. Both wholesome shows and I do not mind watching them at all. I just resent watching all the other shows mom likes. I know I have listed them before but now she has snuck The Jerry Springer Show back into the line-up. So Maury, Jerry Springer, Baggage. I do not mind the Court Shows, especially since we no longer watch Paternity Court. Still, when I see the lives of the people on all these shows, it shows me that my life is wonderful. Though Suzanne's family could star in one!! LOL

Tonight mom made mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes. It was alright. Could have used some seasoning. But then she went and made corn. At least it ended up being 1 carb choice instead of 2. To mom a vegetable is a vegetable. I just cannot get her to see that certain ones are carbs. Oh well.

Time to say good night and get on to the email. I want to start reading a book. I have not read in a while and I am missing it.

Hugs,

RE:MARCH CHAT
(Date Posted:03/04/2015 1:06 PM)

It's really, really cold this morning ~ 12 degrees.  I know it could be worse, we don't have any wind right now so we're not in the below zero Wind Chill category.  Snowing lightly.

Nothing much going on around here right now.  I need to do some laundry and other little things, and tomorrow Marcela comes to clean the house.   I did get the Budget book done, which is sort of Major, given that last time I didn't get it done for almost three months! Hopefully that will never happen again!

Do you watch the Jesse Stone movies (Based on the Robert Parker books and staring Tom Selleck)?  CBS stopped making them ~~~ I'm sure because they didn't pull a large audience from the "Acceptable Demographic".  From everything we have seen, no more were to be made, but this morning I got a message that the wonderful Hallmark Mystery Movies Channel is making at least one more, and it should be out this Fall!  Whoopeee!  If we could, Mike and I would have done the Happy Dance!  lol   Definite day brightener among all the bad news.

I know there won't be any consequences for Hillary, but my gosh, she even had the servers in her house instead of her State Department office!    Still, look at all the "forever lost" emails of the IRS that have been found, and with minimal effort ~ and Lois Lerner got $129,000.00 in bonuses for the time in question.  The current Head of the IRS flat out lied to Congress, but I don't expect to see any real consequences there either.  Sort of blows the mind ~~ and drives me to Binge Watch "House of Cards"  lol

I'm glad you share your real experiences with me.  It helps me to understand and see both sides of the issues.  Right to work makes sense to me, probably because I see the Union Bosses as being corrupt and no longer really working for their membership.  I worked in a closed shop in my pre-management days, and had no choice but to join the Union.  Way back then, the women paid in and were expected to go on strike for things the men wanted, but it was never the other way around.   Remember, I started working back in the Dark Ages.  I really resented it.  When my Union Rep demanded that I contribute to the Union PAC, I refused and you would think I'd committed treason.   I was very active in Politics back then (Democrat Politics then) and the idea that I might be supporting a candidate and be donating to another who opposed him was not acceptable.   I do see that if the Union is really working for you and you aren't paying but others are, that isn't right.  On the other hand, being forced to join and not having your votes be private also seems wrong.

I hadn't heard of any other changes Walker was proposing or supporting ~ things that would effect your Medicare and Prescription costs!  That must be flying under the radar out here.  What is going on??   You know I'm on your side with that!

I'm certainly enjoying being the beneficiary of your other group challenges!

I don't think we watch any Reality Shows.  We used to watch 'Dancing with the Stars' but we don't watch that anymore either.  Laughing right out loud at the idea that "Suzanne's family could star in one".  LOL

The folks in the Atkins Support group are always raving about various Cauliflower recipes.   Pul-eeze.  No way, Jose'!  Yuk!  LOL

I've always thought of corn as being higher carb.  Now I'm gonna have to go and look it up.  It's been a long time since I've really paid the kind of attention I should.   My lack of weight loss is proof.

Have a lovely day.

RE:MARCH CHAT

Yes, corn is a higher carb veg, just like peas and certain beans...all the starchy ones. So when it could have been a no carb meal she picked corn. I would say that unless she got the cauliflower stiffer, I would rather have potatoes.
Tonights was a higher carb meal.  Chicken Alfredo over rice.  Rice is high and I bet the alfredo sauce was too.  Mom concocted this meal as she cooks it all mixed in the oven.  I am not a big fan, but it is alright and it is easy.  When we had Chinese for Diane's birthday they sent a lge and sm rice.  I was the only one that ate any.  I took the remaining rice and divided it up into small baggies and froze them.  This way we just pull a bag and throw it into what ever we are making. Works pretty good that way...not as good for nuking for a meal, it gets too sticky, lol.  But I managed.  I nuke all beef hotdog and rice and then I stir in shredded cheese as soon as it comes out of the microwave.  I love it and do not even know how I first started making it, lol.  But I often have it on Mon nights when mom goes to TOPS.  Used to have pizza, but cut way back on that.
Nothing is set in stone yet regarding the budget, but some cuts may effect the programs that help me with those payments.  One thing I do like is requiring Public Aid Recipients to do drug testing.  If they can afford drugs, they do not need help.  I saw some that said they should not be allowed cigarettes or alcohol either.  I can sort of see that point but am iffy on it. They cannot use the food money on those things.  Another said that other states have shown that it cost more for testing everyone than what they saved because of it.  That would not be good.
I woke up early this morning, got up went to bathroom and back to bed not feeling so hot.  Had my alarm set for 8 and still not feeling good.  So I called and rescheduled my appt.
I have been eating peanut butter with breakfast bagel or with an apple or with crackers to add protein to help with carbs at breakfast and snack.  It constipates me and I have to change to something else.  I usually am pretty regular but lately I do not go for 1-2 days and then I feel crappy and cramp, etc. until I do the deed.  So will have to focus more on eggs and cottage cheese or cheese.  Though the cheeses can be just as bad, lol.
No, I never saw those mysteries, but I love Tom Selleck.  Again, mom is not up for mysteries and we do not get Hallmark's Movie Channel, though we both wish we did.
We just cannot afford to pay more.
I was the Chief Steward of my Union (SEIU) for many years and I have seen both sides of the issues.  There were times when I could not and would not fight for an employee when they were guilty of whatever the infraction was and my higher up rep respected my opinion and I always had a great working relationship with the admin.  When I got Cancer I stepped down and the woman the took over was not aggressive enough.  So she got ousted and the next one was way too aggressive.  Defending those who were guilty and I guess that is the way it should be if you think of us as lawyers...but I did not see it that way.  Then she went to work for the union.  So they went back to the less aggressive one as no one wants thankless jobs that do not pay.  I can honestly say that if not for the union I would have been fired many years ago.  Being the union steward with the union backing me kept me my job.
Oh Lordy, going to let this all go as I do not need to be fighting this fight anymore. People will believe what they believe and nothing will change their minds.  I still respect the person even when I do not respect the choice.
So I still need to get out this week and get labs done.  So Suz is going to take me on Fri, then I see Denise on Mon so will see where I am going wrong.
Have a thankful Thursday.
Hugs,

Hi!  A little late, but I have a nice clean house and shoveled walk and driveway.  The trash was out last night, but has yet to be picked up!

It's warming up!  We may get above freezing today, at least a little, and all the way up to 50 tomorrow.  Yay.

I got on the scale this morning ~ no change. :-(  BUT, when I got on again with my bedroom slippers on, I was up a pound!  Good Grief, who would have guessed they could weigh so much?  They are just UGG Mocassins.  The next time I go to the Dr I will have to weigh before and after dressing and then compare that to what I weigh in the Dr's office.  I know it's more, but now I'm wondering how MUCH more.  Anyway, I'm still not losing.  Guess I should be grateful that I'm not gaining!

Clever you to freeze leftover rice in individual baggies to mix with a meal. Your hotdog/Cheese/Rice meal sounds pretty good.

After we talked I tried to look for proposed Wisconsin budget cuts, but the only ones I saw were for UW.  Those wouldn't effect you, would they?

I understand there is a lot of ire about the proposal to drug test welfare recipients, but I have to agree.  If a worker has to be tested so he can work, earn salary and pay taxes, it doesn't seem unfair that the recipient of some of those taxes has to be tested too.

My experiences with the Union were entirely different than yours, and of course we bring our own life experiences into the way we feel. I worked for the Phone Company and it was pretty nearly impossible to be fired in the years when I belonged to the Union.  You'd have to commit some heinous act in full public view to not be fire-proof, so I never knew of anyone's job being saved by the Union.  As I said, more than once I had to go on strike to get a ten cent raise, while supporting the men's $10 raises (and of course I'm not remembering actual amounts, but the women's raises were much, much less then the men's in those "olden" days).  When you worked out how long you would have to work to have that ten cents make up for the amount you lost while being forced to be off work I don't think I ever actually made it up, though maybe those who got bigger raises did.

Then when I was in Management, we had to work 12 hour days, 6 days a week during a strike, which wasn't a bunch of fun either.   In some locations, Union members (I'd use another word but I don't want to offend ) vandalized the cars of those who had to work and on a couple of occasions even physically accosted them.  I remember one pregnant woman who was knocked to the ground.  I remember being very nervous about parking when I went to work and wondering if I would get off work 13 hours later (forced breaks) and find my tires slashed or something.  It never happened to me, but it did to others and it was frightening.   Anyway, my experiences were entirely different than yours, and it has colored my opinion.

I am SO glad we can actually talk about these things and help each other understand and that we are able to respect each other's views even if we don't share them.   So many people seem to want to kill anyone who doesn't think exactly like they do.  Sad.

FINALLY!  The garbage men just came!  Good thing we didn't have both trash and recycles to pick up today.  Barbara just picked up our trash can and brought it up to the garage, and then she headed on down the street.  Is she bringing everyone's cans to their garage doors?  She really is something else!

Make it a great day!

Oops!  I almost forgot to thank you for my beautiful tag!  I have it saved

Thank you!!

I have no respect for unions that act like that. Peaceful information exchange is what is supposed to be done. We almost went on strike one time in my 32 years there. We were trying to get wages that competed with other homes in the city. The company lawyer made the mistake of saying that Nurses Aides were a dime a dozen. That was all it took to get us all fired up. We made plans for striking. None of us wanted to do it. We could not afford to but we needed to make them think we would. Our admin did, she saw all the prep going on and she told corporate that they needed to settle with us as she could not run the place without the union employees. The only staff not in the union was Administration, Dept Heads and Nurses.  Everyone else was. Maintenance, Housekeeping, Laundry, Dietary and of course the CNA's. 2 days before we would have gone out we settled. I was very relieved as was our Admin. But we had very specific rules set up for striking. We could only walk up and down the sidewalk and not on the facilities property.  Our signs were to be specific about issues and no name calling. We were not to obstruct traffic to and from the building, including people and cars.  We had printed up sheets of what the issues were and why that we could hand out.  The admin knew the residents were on our side and that their families were already worrying about it. So we were well prepared and we won. We got a $1.00 raise across the board for everyone which put us into line with the other homes. As we pointed out, it would only help them to bring more staff into the facility and not to others that paid more.  I really am glad I do not have to deal with it all any more. Negotiations were always stressful and when it came to filing grievances, far to often I would have sided with the company, lol. Though there were times we really had to stand our ground to help someone unfairly treated.  If companies could sit down and talk with their employees and give them a liveable wage, then unions would not be necessary. But when you take them away and a company treats you unfairly you have no recourse without a union.  The problem really never is the Admin and management.

So damn cold here but supposed to start warming up some.  This weekend we are supposed to get above freezing.  Woo hoo!  We have Jason's 16th birthday celebration on Sun.  Also just got an invite to Liam's 1st birthday celebration.  They are holding it at Louann and Bruce's as there is a lot more room there.  It is in April.

I keep forgetting to weigh in. I will try to remember when I shower in the morning. Otherwise they will weigh me at the doctors office on Monday. I updated on my blood sugars and Denise is pleased with them over all. We have to work on the noon ones as they are the highest. Mainly because it is only 2 1/2 to 3 hrs from my breakfast to lunch. I cannot get my mom to change meal times as they have always been that way.  I am going to try a no carb breakfast like just an egg and see how that goes.

Yay on having a clean house again and on having awesome neighbors. You really are blessed in that!  This tag has the same background as the last one I made but the rest is different.  More challenges are to make a tag that is all or mostly green but nothing Irish in it.  Then a tag with absolutely no green in it.  Will see what I come up with.
Should not be too hard.

Have a great day tomorrow.

Hugs,

Good Morning.

Gonna be a Bright, Bright, Sunshiney Day.  The snow is pretty much melted on the walks and driveways, but remains fairly heavy on the grassy areas ~ pretty.  The streets are melting slowly.  The City of Arvada doesn't clear the side streets unless there is a record snowfall ~ I'm not sure what the record needs to be, because they've never cleared the streets in our neighborhood.  Our old neighborhood was on a School Bus Route so it was always cleared.  We didn't know how spoiled we were.

I think we're going out for dinner this afternoon.  We haven't been to the Texas Road House for ages, and we haven't been out of the house in days.

Too funny ~~ Mike got some new slippers but he hates to be 'shod' so they are laying on the floor near him, and Shogun is stalking them!  LOL

Mike and I were talking about people we knew of being fired back in our Union days.  He knew one guy who requisitioned supplies that could be used for construction and had them delivered to a bogus address, a shed, and then sold them.  Clever business opportunity ~ until he was caught and fired.  Of course he was Management.

I knew of one couple of co-workers who were having sex in the breakroom at night and got caught.  They were severly scolded and notations put into their records and that would have been the end of it, except the wife found out and raised H. with his bosses.  Public perception was "all" in those days, and they were fired. I don't know if the Union tried to help them or not.

You are so lucky you didn't have to go out on strike ~ ever!  One time when we were out and didn't know how long it would be, I got a job working for my friend who owned a small 'Ma and Pa' type motel as her cleaning lady ~~ and it darned near killed me.  After that, I decided I'd rather starve.  lol.  The jerk who said that Nurses Aides were a dime a dozen should have had the opportunity to do their work for a week or a month, and I'll bet he'd have changed his tune.  I wish the families of his clients could have heard him.  So many in Power Positions seem to feel that way ~~ they are in a superior position because they ARE superior.  Pul-eeze!  I remember being in a meeting once when one of the Managers, talking about some unfair edicts, defended them by saying "Cream rises to the top".  You will be surprised to know that I stopped myself from saying "So does Pond Scum".  Snort!

Even though we are coming from different places, I'm often struck by how alike we think much of the time.  You just vote for the wrong candidates ~~~ she sez, dancing out of swatting range.  TEE HEE!

I must report a mini-miracle!  I lost half a pound!  Well, at least until I eat a carb ~ lol.   I thought the darned scale was permanently stuck.

We made an Ez-Pz crock pot dish you might like.  Six boneless, skinless chicken breasts, with a sauce made of a Can of Cream of Chicken Soup, a block of Cream Cheese and a packet of Italian dressing mix.   Melt the cream cheese with the soup and dressing mix (we did it on high for half an hour, then stirred to mix), then add the chicken breasts and cook on low for 6 hours.  Really quite tasty and only 6 grams a serving and three night's of meals.  You know how I love a meal that keeps on giving!  It would be good served over rice to absorb the sauce, for those of you who don't break out in fat if you so much as look at a Carb.

Thanks for the great St Paddy's Day tag!

Have a Fab Friday.

Yep, I am a conundrum, as I am a conservative in many ways but also a liberal in many ways.  So am often torn about how I feel about issues.  That is my being a Libra and seeing both sides of a situation.  In that way I am a true Libra, lol.
Yay for warmer weather.  We are supposed to be getting it too.  I am so looking forward to that.  Suz is taking me to get my blood checked tomorrow morning. (Sat) as I should be fasting for it.
I read my mom the recipe and she said I should do it, so will add the items to our shopping list.  Did you use rice?  How did you serve yours?  I am not sure I would like rice with it.  When you put the chicken in, do you pour some of the soup mix over them?  Just need a little clarification since I am not a seasoned cook, lol.
You had better watch out, I carry a grabber so have quite a long reach with it.  I do not always vote Democrat.  I voted for Reagan.  But not for any Republican since.  I vote for those that I like the most.  If I really liked a candidate it would not matter what their party was.
I hope you had a great meal out and enjoyed the outdoors while you were travelling to and from.  I am so looking forward to warmer weather.
I had fabulous blood sugars today.  My highest was when I got up.  But I had no carbs for breakfast and the only carb at lunch was an apple.  At supper I did have mashed potatoes and at 11pm a couple of rice cakes, and still had a great one at midnight.  But eliminating carbs completely is not going to happen.  I weighed in at 288 today. That is 12l bs less than when I saw Denise a month ago.  That is if our scales match.
I have to continue to be good.  Yet all I can think about is eating something really bad for me.  But the blood sugars help me to stay on the straight and narrow, lol.
Well, will see you tomorrow.
Hugs,

RE:MARCH CHAT

Hello My Friend.

Don't forget to Spring Ahead tonight.   I think maybe my spring has sprung, but I'll try.

We did go out for dinner last night.  Hadn't been there for ages and it was good.  I had a small sirloin steak and a sweet potato with butter (not honey butter) and a salad ~~ and couldn't finish it!  Now I ask you ~ when I can't finish a meal like that, how come I'm FAT?  No fair!

I love that we are Liberal Conservatives, or Conservative Liberals.  lol.  We both actually seek out the opinions of others who might not see things in exactly the same way that we do, and sometimes we actually learn something.  I swear you can almost 'see' some people closing their eyes and putting their hands over their ears and singing 'La la la la', so a new and maybe different idea can't find it's way into their teeny tiny brains.  They actually scare me, and I blame them for the trouble the country is in.  There are so many of them.     I will try to remember that  you have a Grabber when I tease, cuz when I say I'm dancin' out of the way, you have to know it's a very slow dance.  lol  Anyway, I love that we can talk and we don't have to agree on everything or think in lockstep to keep respecting each other.

I think I've told you that 'back in the day' I actually campaigned door to door for John Kennedy and very enthusiastically supported Robert, but I would have campaigned vigorously against Teddy. I changed Parties about the same time Regan did, and for the same reasons.  I think the last Democrat I voted for was Jimmy Carter the first time, but I've apologized for that and promised never to do it again.  Ha.   I've pretty much voted Republican since, often sadly voting against the Democrat rather than for the Republican.  I hate when that happens but if a Democrat who shared my American values and seemed to have honor and integrity presented themselves, they could win my support.

You are awesome!  I'm thrilled that you are getting your blood sugars under control and awed by your weight loss!  You are doing so well!!

Yes, after the sauce was made and the chicken added, I scooped some of the sauce over the chicken to finish cooking, and served it that way.   Because we're trying to low carb it, we didn't put it on anything and it was good and filling.  I just thought it might be good over rice or something for "normal" people.   We just had a nice veggie on the side, asparagus.

Have a Swell Saturday, and good luck with your blood test!
