(Date Posted:06/09/2013 9:27 AM)

Hi ladies!  I am going to make a point of coming in even if I have to come in at 6:00 AM!  As it is, I can't possibly catch up although I read all the posts for June.

Congratulations to Jordan, Lou Ann!  Hi to both you and Dorothy!

My grandson is six months old next week and goes to the Dr. on Wednesday.  Soon he will start eating solid foods.  So far he has said nothing other than breast milk.  I will post pictures soon.  This afternoon we go to a baby shower for my niece.  She had a little girl and named her Lilliana.  This will be the first time I see part of my brothers new house, that is if my folding ramp gets me in the door.  Talk to you tomorrow.
Hugs,
GrannnieM

RE:JUNE SIGN IN
(Date Posted:06/10/2013 7:10 AM)

Monday morning, and we're heading for record breaking heat ~ 97 degrees! Oh, goodie. I'd like to water the pots of petunias and maybe have a cuppa on the porch this morning, but I think the rest of the day will be spent inside in the AC.

Yesterday we had the neighbor/HOA rep coming over to visit in the afternoon, and since Mary Ann and Benji are coming tomorrow we decided to clean and "primp" the house for both. I must say, the house looked pretty good. Mike found some new granite cleaner/polisher (we've tried several kinds before with disappointing results) and this really seems impressive.
I haven't peeked out of the bedroom yet this morning, so who knows if it still looks good out there. Ha.

Joanne, our visitor is very nice and quite impressive. She went to the city Assessors to protest her increase in taxes, and whle she was there she talked to them about the disparity and seemingly random assessments for the entire neighborhood. We didn't protest our increase, though we probably should, but she brought us lots of information on the way our house compared to another neighbors ~ with our house being assessed much higher for no apparent reason. We have found some errors (they said we had twice as much of the basement finished as we have and things like that) and we mailed in a correction, but looking at her notes there are some other things we need to measure too. I don't believe our covered porch is nearly as large as they say it is, for example.

She did ask us to do some research for the HOA and we declined. I felt bad to say no, but I know how easily that sort of thing can take over your life. Some of the Board members have dropped out making an increased work load for those who remain, so of course I felt guilty saying no. (Mike did not ~ ha.) Now that I've thought about it more, I think the things they are doing and want to do are WAY over reaching and controling, and while I can understand the merit of some of the things, I still disagree passionately with the intrusion of the HOA into our private property ~~ sooo, now I'm glad I said no and if I'm asked again, it will be easier (I hope) to say no again. Perhaps if more drop out the HOA will intrude less because they just won't have the time to mind OUR business.

I really liked her and would like to get to know her better ~ assuming the fact that we are clearly on opposite sides of many issues doesn't prohibit that. If it does, so be it. Like Popeye sez, Iyam who Iyam.

I loaned her our DVD of the British TV series "Thyme and Seasons", so I know we'll talk again.

Tomorrow our company comes and I don't know how early they will get here. I will probably be scarse tomorrow and Wedesdday.

I missed Donald Duck Day, but today is Iced Tea Day. We made some new Republic of Tea Iced Ginger Peach tea yesterday and thought it was very refreshing. Think I'll do it again today.

AnnnieM, it's so good to see you!   We've all been worried bout you.  Good to know you were just busy.

 Have a Happy Day, Everyone.

Hello ladies
The weekend turned out great...not hot but it never rained and
Walleye Weekend had a great turn out.  The gentlemen that stayed
in the little apt here were the big winners of the event.  They caught
almost 50 lbs of Walleye so they won the 13000 and the boat!!
But they did not bring us any of the promised fish, lol.  I am sure
it went right out of their heads being the big winners.
Dorothy, I definitely could not see you working for the HOA, unless
it was so that you could make your opinion known, lol.  I really do
think that HOA's go too far.  Have a wonderful time with your family
and I hope the house stays clean.
GrannnieM, so happy to hear from you.  At least we know you are
alive and kicking.  Well. maybe not kicking, lol.  I cannot believe that
Henry will be 6 months old already.  Where does the time go?  Looking
forward to pictures.  I like the name Lilliana.  I love flower type names and Lily is a favorite.  I hope you do get in by us more often.
Nothing much going on here.  It is a beautiful day here and 73.  If we
had the cushions up out of the basement we could be sitting out on the swing.  Will have to get Jordan or Josh to bring them up.
Tomorrow am going with Nan out to Louann and Bruce's.  There is
talk that we will start watching the Borgia's.  I said can't we just watch a movie or something.  As I seem to miss episodes all the time. Seems
everything revolves around Nan.  She picks when we get together, where we eat and what we watch.  I do not know why.  Louann always calls and says Nan is coming in on Tues to watch what ever and she wants to eat at such and such.  If I cannot make it, and even though
the show is episodes, they watch them without me when I cannot come.  Oh well, I take my iPad along and futz with it during shows
that I am lost on, lol.
Check in with you all tomorrow.
Hugs,

Well, I was going to try and get in but the Internet was broken.  This morning I tried to get a border and that wouldn't work.  Dagnabit.

Tonight we have a band concert in the park in Rapid City.  Zarah is playing first chair french horn, so I am excited!  I don't know if we will get to see Henry, though.  They are coming tomorrow and we are going to the park.  Zarah says she took him last week and put him in one of the baby swings and he loved it!  His first tooth has come through!  I need to get pictures!

  Hello ladies

I had a great time out with my friends last night.
We went to La Tapatia for Mexican food.  I had a
Chimichanga with rice, beans and a guacamole salad.
It was delicious and I was stuffed...sadly, no left
overs.  We stopped for ice cream after we left and
then we went over to Louann and Bruce's dtr Kirstie's
new house.  It is really nice.  While we were there her
hubby Nick got home.  They are just such an awesome
couple and so happy together.  They will be celebrating
their 2nd anniversary this month.
Then we went to Louann and Bruce's and watched 3 or 4
episodes of Season 2 of The Borgia's.  I never saw the
1st season, as they watched that quite a while ago while
I either went through an anti-social period or illness.  Or
both, lol.  It was good though and I find it so unbelievable
how little people in power in those times cared so little for
the common people.  They were all totally expendable and
so poorly treated.  Also the methods of torture were so
horrendous.  I cannot even imagine.  I think many of them
were psychopaths!!
Hi GrannnieM.  I hope you enjoy your concert.  You will have to
tell us what the theme was for the music.  What fun to get to
see Henry at the park and at the same time get out there in
the fresh air and sunshine yourself.  I hope you have a wonderful
time and YES, you do need to get pictures, lol.
We have had massive thunderstorms late afternoon and most
of the evening.  I think they have all passed now.  Which is a
good thing because some of those thunder boomers would
have woke the dead...I am sure no one could have slept
through them.  I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them.  We
got a great deal of rain too and we needed it.  So in my
opinion it has been a lovely stormy day.  Chat with you all
tomorrow.  Take care.
Hugs,

Hi again!  We went to the concert and it was good.  They played one circus march where the trombones all had to bark like dogs in one section and then the whole band were exclaiming when the clown was shot out of the canon.  It was fun!  Zar had a solo in a piece from Wicked.  It was just OK, not spectacular.  Today she and Henry will come and we will go to the park and I will see him in a swing.  I'm pretty excited!  I will have her take pictures!

Hi Lou Ann!  I don't think I want to watch the Borgias if there is violence in that.  I believe there were definitely psychopaths back in the day.  Glad you enjoyed the thunderstorm!

Hi Dorothy!  Hope you are nowhere near the fires in your state!  Stay safe!

Hugs,

GrannnieM, so glad you had a good time at the concert,
which sounds like it was a lot of fun.  After reading your
post I chose my tag in honor of Zarah's part in Wicked.
This was as close as I could come to the Ruby Slippers.
I have always wanted to see wicked.
I hope you enjoy your time at the park.  I really am looking
forward to seeing pictures.  It has been a beautiful day
here in Wisconsin.  Quite the opposite of yesterday, though
I enjoyed the storms.  There is something so comforting
in being safe inside while all hell breaks loose outside.  And
there is something really magnificent about a powerful
storm...as long as it does not get destructive...then is just
gets scary.
Nothing going on here just another day that goes by too
quickly.  Chat again tomorrow.

Better late than never? Maybe.

Our company left late yesterday morning and I tried to get caught up with email and other things. I planned to post this morning but my friend Judy in Omaha called and we talked for an hour and a half. Mike and I had planned to have our coffee on the porch, and since it got late while we were talking, I didn't sign in before went out.

Then three neighbors stopped over for a visit! It's nice to be popular. I'm sure it is. Ha! The day just got away from me.

They say a picture is worth 1000 words, so I will share some pictures tonight, and then talk about your posts tomorrow. Okay?

Miss Lucy ~ 5 weeks old.

We enjoyed our company and I think they enjoyed the Guest Suite. Instead of going out to a restaurant for dinner, we went to The Tavern at the Briarwood and had appetizers and drinks. Everyone had fun and we had a good visit, too.

Mike, me, Mary Ann & Benji (Jim)

Mary Ann started working with stained glass about a year and a half ago, and she made me a lovely stained glass piece. It wasn't specifically mentioned but I'm assuming it was an early three quarters of a century birthday present. That's an auspicious occasion and this is definitely an auspicious piece.

I can't seem to get the colors exactly right, but close. I love it.

Ok, my lovlies. Tomorrow we talk about YOU.

Nighty Night.

Happy Flag Day.smiley12

It's going to be another warm one, but only in the 80s I think. I'll take it! Now if we just don't have the horrid winds! They should mow our lawn (and everyone else in the neighborhood's) today, so I don't think we'll be sitting out on the porch. We have some errands to run, and we plan to go out for a late lunch and to pick up some carryout for dinner.

it's just unbelievable to see what people are going through with the fires. Now two people have been found dead, apparently they were preparing to leave and the fire just erupted. They've opened a murder investigation in case arson is found. If someone did set the fire, I think think should just build a big bonfire and toss them in! I haven't the slightest feeling of mercy for people who deliberately do things like that. I can understand someone doing something stupid, and I think there should be consequences to them, but the folks who do things like this deliberately? No mercy.

Now let me catch up with all of you!

smiley12

Lou Ann, I'm glad Walleye Week was geat, even though you didnt get any fish.

We tried to watch The Borgias but just couldn't get into it.   Nan sounds a wee bit controling.  Perhaps she'd like a spot in our HOA?
So glad you had a nice time, anyway.  Your meal out sounded fabulous, as always.

Once again, please feel free to send your rain our way!

smiley12
GrannieM ~ Oh, No!   When you finally can get in here again, the Internet breaks.  Isn't that just the way?  Glad it's all better now.

We definitely need Henry pictures!

The concert sounded fun.  Hope you had a grand day with Henry and Zarah.

Good Morning Everyone.

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day. High in the low 80s and maybe a little rain. Now if we can just keep the horrid winds away, it should be nice.

No particular plans for today, maybe a little cleaning because we've invited Barbara (next door) over for dinner Sunday night. Mike will throw some salmon on the grill and we'll just serve it with Bernaise Sauce (on the side), asparagus, and little croissants. She is bringing a salad because she is going out of town for a couple of weeks on Wednesday and she wants to clean her fridge out. We'll have a nice wine with dinner and some Sorbet/Gelato for dessert.

I think I will go for my Driver's License on Tuesday (maybe), then Marcela comes on Wednesday and Thrusday is our 32nd anniversary so we'll go out for dinner then and maybe make steak and lobster to continue the celebration on Saturday. All plans except Marcela on Wednesday are very loose.

We flew our flag on Flag Day.

Ut-Oh.  I'm talking to myself again.   Bored now.
Bub-Bye.

RE:JUNE SIGN IN
(Date Posted:06/16/2013 3:51 PM)

Damn, damn and double damn!!  Had a couple of paragraphs written when mom and I decided to order supper from Pizza Ranch.  So in the process of going on line for their menu I somehow closed out my aimoo page.  I slapped myself in the head and my mom thinks I am crazy.  So here we go again, because I missed posting for a couple of days and do not want to miss more.
It is a beautiful day here in Wisconsin...sunny and 82.  After a couple of days of storms it is nice to see the sun.  Dorothy, how is it with the fires?  Are they still going or are they gaining control over them?  I wish I could have sent you some of our rain as we have gotten a lot of it lately.  I am sure they could put out those fires.  Miss Lucy is so beautiful.  Nothing as peaceful and calming as a baby sleeping.  All that innocence!  Looks as if you had a fine time with your company.  You and Mary Ann look radiant in the photo. But who are those two old goats you are with?  Just kidding....tell Mike that I am just joshing, lol.  Neither of them seem to be able to crack a real smile ;)
The stained glass looks awesome and different.  Is the some new type of leading between the glass.  It looks frilly and white, not at all what you usually see.  Would love to see it with light streaming through it.  Your plans for your anniversary sound good.  Especially the steak and lobster, yum.
I have ordered a California Chicken pizza for me and mom a Bacon Ranch Chicken pizza.  Mine has a garlic sauce and thick crust and hers has a ranch sauce with thin crust...this way we get what we like best.  We got ourselves Cactus Bread for dessert.  Cannot wait, it should be here anytime now.  So I had better hurry along.  Sorry I was gone so long...I seem to have a bit of an addiction to a game called Pet City on Facebook and so I am trying to avoid it today.  Have not been there yet.
Oops. food it here, gotta go.
Hugs,

'Morning my Lovlies.

Dinner last night was fun. The salmon turned out perfectly and we served it with asparagus and croissants.  Our salmon was on the grill. It was a bit "iffy" during the afternoon. "They" kept threatening thunderstorms around dinner time, and the skies did darken and we got a few sprinkles around 3, but by 6 it was just beautiful out so we didn't have to bake it instead of grilling.

Barbara brought a salad AND she brought appetizers. She'd been to a Progressive Dinner the night before and had lots of specialty crackers and dips left over so she brought them to share with us. We had them with a Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet wine. For dessert we had a choice of red raspberry or blood orange sorbet-gelato. Good conversation and a nice evening.

I'm anxious to see pictures of Jack's first birthday. Katie did post one of Brian on his bicycle with Jack in a little seat behind, celebrating Father's Day and First Birthday together. Cute.

The fires are finally coming somewhat under control ~ close to 400 homes lost in the Black Forrest one and it's only about 50% contained. Absolutely heartbreaking. The Royal Gourge fire is completely contained. I haven't heard of any serious structural damage to the bridge, which will be a very good thing if true. Several others are still going.

Lou Ann, I thought you had been captured by the Facebook Games and abandoned me.    I've lost posts like that so believe me when I say I know how frustrating it is.

I do love the stained glass Mary Ann made me!  Yes, she does a different technique with the sodering.  It's sort of freehand.   We have so few places where we can safely have the piece up and still be where we can see it and enjoy it all the time.  I love it in the Morning Room ~ but no way to allow the sun to stream through.

As always, your dinner sounded wonderful ~ hope it was!

Happy Monday, everyone.

Hello ladies or lady, lol.
Nothing much going on around here.  I have little to nothing
to say :)  Mom had blood work done today and for the first time in a long time, her hemoglobin went up on it's own.  Yippee!  Now that school is out my sister Diane is trying to get mom out more often and get her more active to strengthen her lungs.
Dorothy, your evening with your neighbor sounded great.  Mom and I had the rest of our pizza for supper tonight.  Still yummy. OMG, I cannot believe I did not think about the cats with your
beautiful stained glass.  I would not be a good thing to have light streaming through it and have it draw Shoguns attention.  I am happy to hear that the fires are coming under control.  Jordan came by this morning with their shop vac and sucked up all the whirly birds that were all over our porch and moved out swing up front as we had it set way back during the winter months.  Then he finished up the little stuff with out regular vacuum.  Looks great.  The cheap indoor/outdoor carpet it really getting worn.  I wonder if they will bother to replace it.  This afternoon Josh and best bud Evan stopped in got a visit and brought mom and I root beer floats from A&W.  What a treat.  All because the last time he walked in with one we gave him a hard time about not bringing enough to share, lol.  Well, that's all I can think of to say.  Have a great Tuesday.

Hi Troops.

I'm a bit late today, and a bit tired, too. This morning we went to Longmont to get my Driver's License. It's a fairly long way from here but Arvada no longer has a Driver's License office, only a Car License place, and we thought Longmont might be less busy. This is where we went before after Arvada's closed and it worked well. The other enticement is one of our favorite breakfast restaurants, which is in Longmont. It seemed like a good plan.

Soooo, we waited for over half an hour and only one number had been called and there were at least 60 people ahead of us. After a little over half an hour, we left and went to breakfast. It was a good call. We came back around noon, and they were two numbers past the original number I had! We would have been sitting there all that time! A couple of folks from Boulder were telling us that they were given a 3 hour and 45 minute wait there, so they came to Longmont hoping it would gofaster ~ there were over 150 people and only two clerks processing them!
My wait time was about 45 minutes this time, and I passed my eye test and everything was finished in about half an hour. I almost didn't pass ~ in addition to reading the chart I needed to tell them when I saw the blinking light and if it was on the right or the left, so I held up a finger to indicate I saw the first light blinking on the left. The woman said "I'll have to indicate you have a blind spot". "No!" sez I. "I held up my finger!" We both had a laugh. Apparently she needed to hear me. Then when I went to have my picture taken I had to be fingerprinted ~ and my finger print wouldn't show up. The same woman was called over to do an override, and she said it was because I kept waving my fingers at her. LOL. Anyway, I have a temporary license until the real one is mailed to me, but I am now licensed to drive in Colorado for the next five years. Yay!

Tornado hovered over DIA this afternoon ~ and made me miss my Soap Opera! Where are their priorities?! Fortunately it didn't set down, so all is well. Except my unwatched Soap. Ha.

Lou Ann, how wonderful that your Mom's hemoglobin went up on it's own!   Awesome!

Josh is also awesome, but I've said that before.  How delightful that his friend brought you root beer floats.  Kinda gives ya hope for the future, knowing good kids like that.

See ya in the A.M. Lovlies.

Here I am for what is is worth.  I am tired and headed to bed early tonight.  Early for me anyway, lol.  Nothing much going on here.  I made the Chicken Cordon Bleu tonight and 2 more meals are in the freezer.  That at Brussel Sprouts made a yummy supper.  Wow, Dorothy, that kind of wait anywhere seems unacceptable to me.  I know everywhere has
downsized but tha if ridiculous.  I could not do it.  I am glad that going out to eat first left you with a shorter wait.  You know that wagging your finger at people will only get you in trouble.
Gosh I am soooo tired.  Saying goodnight.
