WELCOME TO JUNE

In June

So sweet the daffodils, so fair to see;
So blithe and gay the hummingbird a going

HELLO LADIES
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT IS JUNE ALREADY?
I CANNOT.  SCHOOL WILL BE OUT IN ANOTHER WEEK HERE.  GRADUATION IS NEXT THURSDAY, I THINK, AND MY NEPHEW JORDAN WILL BE WITH THE GRADUATES.
WE HAVE HAD SOME NASTY STORMS THE
PAST COUPLE DAYS BUT LUCKILY THE WORST OF IT MISSED US.  I SEE OKLAHOMA
IS GETTING HIT AGAIN.  I WOULD NOT LIVE IN TORNADO ALLEY FOR ANYTHING.
WELL I MESSED WITH THE SKIN AGAIN AND DID THE BEST I COULD.  IT IS STILL TRIAL AND ERROR WITH ME.
I AM OFF TO LALA LAND.

June is bustin' out all over! Hard to believe, but it's JUNE!

Right now it's a frosty 49, but heading for a sunny 67 here in Arvada. I'd love to have coffee on the porch this morning, if it warms up. I think I need to hand water the flower pots. They get water from the sprinkler system on Sunday and Thursday, but it's been so horribly windy I think at least one of the pots is getting a bit dried out.

No exciting plans for today. I'm going to make Crock pot BBQ ribs and Crackerbarrel Hash Brown potatoes. We have some ears of corn I could serve too, if we want.
Mike thawed some Williams Sonoma chocolate croissants and we'll bake them for breakfast. (Any question about why we're fat??)

New picture of Jack this morning. I know I shouldn't keep sharing so many ~ but honestly I don't share them ALL! He's going to be 1 on the 16th. He has so many people who love him I figured he'd be buried in toys and clothes (and wouldn't really know anyway) so we got him a Silver coin from the US Mint. Maybe it will be worth something when he's old enough to need a few bucks.

Wonderful opening page as always, Lou Ann.
I did marry in June, and I do kind of feel like a bride all of my life. (And now that song from "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers"will be playing in my head all day! Ha!)
Trust me ~ I am very aware of cataracts, and not just this month!
Lots of unusual special observances this month.

Congratulations Graduate (to be) Jordan!

You are doing a great job with the skins.  I learned the same way ~ trial and error.   There is a new site that teaches skin-making.  I think she needs to do a bit of tweaking, but there is a lot of helpful information there.   Check it out.   http://forum2.aimoo.com/SkinDesigns4Aimoo
You have to join, but I don't think you have to jump through any hoops to be accepted.  No posting required, so you can just use it as a resourse.  She's also a diamond membership group, so you can check that out too.

Happy June, my friends!

Hello Ladies
Today was Cancer Survivors Day.  Time for a
Celebration of life.  On my 1 year anniversary
of my bone marrow transplant I held a party
and called it Celebration of Life.  Louann and
Bruce had just moved into their new home.  I
had a bit to much to drink and spilled my wine
on their new couch.  I do not celebrate that
way any more.  All things in moderation...I only
have one these days...nothing more.  But I will
say I am a silly and entertaining drunk or so my
friends said, lol.
Dorothy, I knew you would know that line from
7 Brides for 7 Brothers.  It is a favorite movie
in our family.  There is a Musical Dinner Theater
about 1 1/2 from here.  Mom and all 4 of us girls
went to 7 Brides for 7 Brothers and has a
wonderful time.  I always loved going there.  The
meals were fabulous and the plays wonderful.
Besides 7 Brides, I have also seen Meet Me in
St. Louis, Fiddler on the Roof and 3 of their
Christmas Shows.  I cannot go anymore and I
miss it.
Potted plants definitely need to be watered
more than twice a week.  They dry out so fast.
Jack is such a keeper.  You can share as many
pics as you want.  I love seeing them.
I am going to check out the skins site.  As long
as I do not have to do anything I am game.  I do
not want any more lessons until I finish the ones
I am doing.  Just picked up on doing them again.
Took a couple weeks off while I was doing the
MS fundraising event.
I love your tag.  It is so cute and I love the
Wizard of Oz.
Well, I can hardly stay awake, so it is time to
call it a day.
Have a Blessed Sunday.
Hugs,

RE:JUNE SIGN IN

Good Morning!

Yesterday I added the Mozilla Firefox Browser so I can see what the rest of you who aren't using IE see, and what I saw was that my header for the skins I created for the other group missing, and because I don't have bookmarks going down the side of the page when I use Firefox, the side borders are very wide. It looks quite different than when I'm using IE. I also played with THAT BORDER ~ you know the one, and I think I got it fixed. I'm not entirely sure how ~ lol.   So, now if someone says a post is scrolling or something, I can hopefully at least SEE what you are talking about, and maybe even fix it.   If someone is using an entirely different browser ~~~ you're on your own! LOL

I'm pretty sure I will mostly continue to use IE because I like it a lot better, probably because I'm so much more familiar with it. However, now when someone tells me that a border is scrolling or something, I can at least hopefully SEE it. You sure can't fix what you can't see. I'd best remember to look at my new skins using both browsers, too. I had no idea the header wasn't showing up.

With Firefox, I can't figure out how to have two pages open at the same time and switch back and forth, and several other things.  I really don't want to have to learn, so I'll pretty much stay with IE for now, unless someone tells me there is a problem.

I did make the crockpot ribs and Crackerbarrel potatoes yesterday, so dinner is made for the next two days ~ Yay!

Tomorrow morning I will visit the Eye Doctor. It's too early for a normal yearly visit, but I think Medicare will pay for it anyway because of the cataracts, and if not I still want to go now because I have to have my Driver's License renewed next month and I want to be sure I can pass the vision test. I haven't driven in so long I'm not sure I could pass the road test ~ lol. ANYway, I'll be out and about tomorrow.

I haven't been to a dinner theater in ages, Lou Ann.   I used to love that, too.   Actually, I haven't been to a theater of any kind in quite a while.  It's just too challenging, and that's a real shame.  The Arvada Center for the Performing Arts is just blocks away from us.   I miss the theater in Denver, and I REALLY miss going to the Central City Opera

I join you in celebrating with you and other Cancer Survivors ~ and Cardiac Arrest survivors, too.  We have much to celebrate.

Ah, life's embarrassing moments!   I can relate.  On a special birthday trip years ago we went to a lovely restaurant in an Inn.  They had hors devours in the parlor with all of the guests just as if you were visiting friends in their lovely home, before taking us to our tables in the dining  room.  In the dining room they had padding under the table cloths and tall stemmed wine glasses ~ with red wine.  Which I proceeded to knock off and on to the white carpet!   In a regular restaurant, I would have felt bad, but here I felt horrid ~ and proceeded to dash into the kitchen to report on my mishap so hopefully they could save the carpet.  Sooooo embarrassing.

Are you taking more Filter/Plug In lessons, or something else?

Have a great day!

RE:JUNE SIGN IN
(Date Posted:06/03/2013 12:13 PM)

Welcome to Cuppa Gals
I have got to quit multi-tasking when I am here.
I had a post yesterday and mom asked my to look up
something.  When I was done I hit the x to close the
page, not thinking that my Cuppa page was open too.
Usually I get a pop up saying do you want to close
all windows but I did not.  Then it hit me that I had
just closed my post.  I was so disgusted with myself
that I shut my stupid laptop down.
So here I am trying it again :)
Dorothy, I use Google Chrome...it gives me the best
game play on facebook and I love it.  I used to use
Firefox and you can open multiple windows.  Here is a
screen shot on how to do so.  I often had 3-4 open.

I quit using IE a long time ago.  It could not handle
the games like Pet Society, Farmville, etc.  Funny
thing is I am only playing one game like that now.
They ate closing Pet Society this month.  Even though
there have been massive protests it is still closing it.
I am now playing Pet City, which is similar but I am
liking it better, I think.
We have had rain for days now and have water sitting
in the driveway and parking area in the back of the
house.  Today the sun is shining and it is 65 right now.
So maybe some of the water will dry up.
Dorothy
Jack is such a cutie and you can share as many pictures
as you like, I love them.  He certainly is photogenic.
I just knew you would know the song from
Ok, you win...your wine incident is worse than mine,
lol.  I felt bad...but was very tipsy so how bad did I
really feel, hee hee.  In your case I would have been
mortified.  Red on white is awful...mine was pale pink
on a tan couch....actually it just looked wet and cleaned
up well.  Still, I really did feel awful, at the moment.
I too miss going to the theater for anything.  Cannot
remember the last time I saw even a movie in a theater.
I really think I could handle that in my wheel chair as
long as it was not a really long movie.  Maybe I will try
one soon.
I did apply to join that skin group, but have not heard
anything back.  I am not sure where to watch for a
response. In my Aimoo mail I suppose.
I hope you eye exam goes well.  Mom had to cancel her
eye appt last year when she was in the hospital.  So
she finally called to schedule it again and cannot get
in until Feb, 2014.  They need to get more
Opth
a
lmologists at the FdL Clinic.  My sister told her to
make an appt to see an optician to just get new glasses
and see Dr. Nixon for health care of eyes.  Makes sense to
me and she will get in a lot sooner.
Hope you enjoy your "poor baby" luncheon.
Hugs,

Good Morning, my Pretties.

It's going to be a lovely 10 degrees cooler than yesterday ~ high 70s, and it might rain. I'm still going to water those poor pots. This wind has really played havoc on them.

Good appointment with the Eye Dr. I think he was a bit surprised to see me after only 6 months, but explained that I needed to get my Driver's Lic renewed. Quick testing and he assured me that I would pass with flying colors, and if for any strange reason I didn't (alergies? Something else like that?) I could just bring the form they gave me back to him to sign because he had already tested my eyes, and I'd get my license renewed for another 5 years with no problem. Also no signs of glaucoma, so nothing amiss but the cataract. Healthy eyes make me happy.

He said that in Eurpope, because there were too many people and they needed to get some off the road, the cut off for licenses was at at 72! Period. Told a horror story about an American who booked a trip to Ireland that included a rental car he was to use to drive between towns in Ireland. All paid for, but when he got to the rental car place he was told they couldn't give him a car because he was over 72! Trip company said they would refund the charges for the rental car, but he would have to find bus or train transportation between the towns in Ireland! What a nightmare that would be!

Since we are waving imigrants in with both arms and we're already overcrowded to my way of thinking, you have to wonder if we will do something like that here. While Old People do NOT cause the most accidents, they are more likely to die in an accident, so that's a good excuse to pick on them to make way for the thundering hordes we seem to want to import. It's a bit different in say Paris, where they have an excellent transportation sstem and everyone lives within the city borders than here where I can't imagine how folks would get around without a car. Mike and I would probably be ok ~ bored, but ok ~ but so many other people would really be stranded. I hate that we seem to be compelled to follow everything that Socialist countries do. Ah, well. Not today, anyway.

After the apt we went to 240 Union for a lovely lunch. Develed Egg appetizers for him, spinach salad for me, then a lovely Hailbut for him and their scrumptious Lobster Melt for me, and then we shared a flourless chocolate cake. Gee, I wonder why we were so stuffed we could hardly waddle and skipped dinner . . . . lol Really didn't do much for the rest of the day. Really COULDN'T do much for the rest of the day! Ha!

Lou Ann, Thanks for the Firefox Tips!   It does help to be able to see things as the rest of you do ~ but I'll still be using IE most of the time.   I never, ever play games on line.  The thought makes me shudder ~ lol.   I spend so much time online that it takes me ages just to read a book now ~ can you imagine if I added games?  LOL.   Friends on Facebook are always inviting me to play.  Every once in a while i post something saying that I'm not ignoring everyone, I just don't play games.  I don't want to offend anyone by ignoring or refusing their invitations.
Anyway, IE works fine for most of what I do.    I did get Mozilla Thunderbird for email because my Live Mail has a sickening tendency to convert images or pictures to a slide show.   Fine if there is no text beneath the imbedded pictures, but if there is, what you get when you forward is a slide show on top and a bunch of text not related to anything in the body of the message!  Awful!   I found that with Thunderbird I can import my Live email and if I want to forward something with pictures and text, I can do it from Thunderbird.  Yay!   Of course I have to be sure I know what I'm doing when I switch back and forth between the two email probrams, or I can lose all of my Live inbox (ask me how I know!!)   I will keep Live because all of my storage folders are there and I definitely don't want to recreate them and import them to Thunderbird.
My life is becoming too complex.  See why I can't play games?  LOL

I do remember when I joined the skin site it took several days before I was accepted, but I did get a PM from Aimoo.  I don't think she is on every day, and I found a few things I question, but it really is a good reference site, and you can ask questions and get help.   You just don't have to post every day ~ or ever.

OhMyGosh, I can't IMAGINE having to wait until next February to get in to see the Eye Doc!   I'm fortunate that I don't have any disease in my eyes except the poopy cataract, which is apparently slow growing.  (But oh, so annoying!)

Later, my lovlies. Marcela comes tomorrow so I may not get on until later. It's hard to visit with you when she is here ~ or when we're getting ready for her visit.

Hi, Guys.

It seems like a Fall day today, actually jacket weather, in the low 60s but no sun shining. Marcela came and visited much more than she usually does, so she was here three hours. One of her Bichons has a torn ligimant in her hind leg, and I think it hurts Marcela more than the poor dog. She's hoping to avoid surgery with laser treatments. I sure hope they work!

Have a Happy Hump Day!

.Hello ladies....or hello Dorothy :)
So glad your exam went well and your eyes are healthy.
I am always worrying in the back of my mind about what I could
do if the vision in my left eye got worse....I worry about the left
ear too.  I am only 56....a long time to go.  I would not want to lose either.  It is hard enough now.
Ooh, your lobster melt sounds wonderful.  I went with Louann
and Bruce yesterday and we met Nan at Wendt's on the Lake.
I had a perch plate that was just wonderful.  I got crinkle cut
fries that were really good, but I did not like their cole slaw.
It was very vinegary and I prefer creamy.  Bruce was the only
one who liked it so he ate his and Nan's but could not manage
more.  They had a beautiful dessert tray that I really wanted
to indulge in, but no one else wanted to so I passed.  Then I
found out why...they wanted to stop at McDonald's to have a
vanilla cone dipped in chocolate.  I thought big deal....Dairy Queen has been doing it forever, but Bruce said they were wonderful
and he is not a sweets person or ice cream. so I had to get one.
I do not know what the chocolate they did into if but it is
wonderful and so good.  I will have to have this cone again, lol.
Then we went to Louann and Bruce's and watched the end of
Mr. Selfridge.  Now we have to wait for next year for new
episodes of Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge.  We will
have to come up with something new to watch.  Or maybe
we will just get movies.
It is cold and rainy here and it looks as if moms garden has
all died.  Too much rain and too cold at night has done it in.
They will have to get new plants and get them into the ground
this weekend.
I need to have my blood checked...today is the 2 week
 mark.
Suzanne will take me on Friday, she is off work for some reason.
Check in with you all tomorrow.
Hugs,

Morning Glories
It's supposed to be in the high 70s today and tomorrow with rain in the afternoon, and then head for the 90's on the weekend!

Your outing sounded lovely, Lou Ann.   I love creamy coleslaw too, and don't care much for the vinegary kind either.

We've been watching Mr Selfridge too ~ I didn't realize the last one we watched was the last for the season, but now that you mention it, I'll bet it was.    I told Mike it was time for his favorite character "Betty Broderick" to go after some of those men. (We have an ongoing argument about Betty.  He thinks she's terrible, and I call her my hero.  LOL   Of course I just do that to get his goat ~ but really, don't you think her husband deserved what he got for dumping her for a younger woman?   LOL)

Aw, I'm sorry about your mom's garden.

Our new trash/recycle day is today so I'd best help get stuff out to the curb. Have a great day, all!

  Hello Cuppa's

Nothing much going on here.  My Nephew Jordan's

graduation ceremony was this evening.  I did not go..

seating is bleachers and I cannot do that at all.  Diane

arranged for mom to sit with the teacher's so she was

on a chair.  They hold it in the gymnasium as it holds

the most people.  The spillover goes to the schools PAC

and watches it on the big screen.  Mom said it was all

very nice.

Dorothy if you were watching the one where his wife

and kids leave for Chicago, then it was the season end.

I am hoping that the death of the employee and losing

his family will be a big wake up call to him.  Though in

that day an age it was pretty common for wealthy men

to have mistresses.  Most wives ignored it, though did

not have it thrown in their face at a play.

Tomorrow Suz is taking me to get my blood checked.

I hope I am back in range and stay there.  I think

it is because I have not been eating as many greens

as usual...but this past 2 weeks I did.  So fingers

crossed.  Today was another chilly, damp, cloudy day.

We need some sunshine.  Suz did pick up some

tomato plants that look pretty good and they will put

them in tomorrow.

Saying good night to all.

Hugs,

Hello ~ Welcome to the weekend.

It's warming up. Supposed to be 81 today, with possible showers in the PM. Think we'll have cappuccino on the porch later this morning.

Screwed up royally yesterday! Ever since we've lived here they have picked up our recycles in the mid-morning and the trash in the late afternoon. Initially we got everything to the curb by 7 AM, but now we know better. They just changed our pick up day from Wednesday to Thursday, but last week it was Thursday following the holiday and the trash pick up wasn't until after 5PM, so we assumed things would be as they always were. Well Wrong-O! We took both cans to the curb around 9 AM, and a neighbor told us they had already picked up the trash! ACK! So now next week we will have two weeks worth of trash to take out. Often we don't have that much so it wouldn't be a problem, but for some reason this week the trash can was nearly full. We're going to have bags on the side next time, and we won't be able to put it out the night before either! Phooey!

They changed our mowing day back to Fridays ~ Yay!   Still, it's pretty noisy for us to have a cappuccino on the porch like we plan right now.

In honor of Lucy's 1 Month Birthday ~~~

ACK! For some reason I am now double spacing here ~ but when I go into Firefox to check, it looks fine. I fix it here and it's all crammed together there! I can't STAND it! Soooo ~ I apologize to those of you who are seeing big spaces between each sentence. I think that's better than having it all jammed to gether for the others, but I sure don't like it!    If you don't have IE, this probably looks fine.  If you do, it doesn't.

You are double spaced to me, Lou Ann.   Isn't this irritating?!

Lou Ann ~ Congrats to Jordan!   The last time we attended graduations we were on bleachers too, and it was a bit challenging for me with my balance issues.  Once seated I was fine.   It would be impossible for me to climb bleachers today, and I'm not so sure Mike could either.   Much as you would like to be there for him ~ much nicer staying at home!

Yes, that was the Seffington we saw.   It was a good place to end for the season.   I know it reflects the times which were so different than today ~ but didn't you just want to HIT somebody?   Seffington, of course, but also whatzhisname who had had his loyal mistress love him for all those years and then dumps her for a younger model ~~ and then has the audacity to ask her to continue to hang around on the side.   I wanted to HURT him!    The woman who died broke my heart ever time I saw her.  Good show ~ if I don't end up killing someone.  Ha.

Good luck with your blood test.   I need to do my finger-stick today, too.   It's been really good for quite awhile.   I hope that continues!

Happy Friday, Everyone!

  HELLO CUPPA'S
THE DAY STARTED OUT QUITE CLOUDY AND CHILLY, BUT THE
SUN MANAGED TO COME OUT AND IT WARMED UP A BIT, SO
TODAY WAS NOT A TOTAL LOSS. THIS WEEKENDS WEATHER IS NOT LOOKING GOOD AND THAT IS NOT GOOD AS IT IS WALLEYE WEEKEND.
http://www.fdlfest.com/walleye-weekend-family-festival-fond-du-lac-wi
THEY ARE TALKING THUNDER STORMS ON SUNDAY. A LOT OF
CHARITY'S DEPEND ON THIS WEEKEND AS THEIR BIGGEST FUND RAISER FOR THE YEAR. LOT'S OF FOOD AND BEER BOOTHS AND
THEY SELL A LOT MORE WHEN IT IS HOT! AND PEOPLE WILL
STAY AWAY IF IT IS RAINING.

I HAD MY BLOOD CHECKED
AND I AM IN THE LOW END OF MY RANGE. NO CHANGES TO
SEE IF IT WILL LEVEL UP ON IT'S OWN AND A RECHECK IN 3
WEEKS. I CAN LIVE WITH THAT. THEY SEEM TO HAVE FOR-
GOTTEN THAT I NEED TO BE SEEN IN THE CENTER AND I
AM NOT REMINDING THEM. I LIKE THE FREEDOM OF CHOOSING
WHEN I GO. AND OF COURSE I LIKE PUSHING THE TIME LIMIT.

DOROTHY, LUCY IS JUST ADORABLE.  SHE HAS SUCH CUTE
LITTLE "BOW" LIPS, LOL.  LOVE THE BLACK AND WHITE
PHOTOGRAPHY.  ALSO TOO CUTE WITH DADDY SLEEPING
WITH HER.  KEEP THEM COMING.

HERE ARE A COUPLE PICS OF JORDAN'S GRADUATION.

I REALLY AM PROUD OF HIM.  HE IS THINKING ABOUT
GOING TO MY COUSIN IN TEXAS FOR THE SUMMER AND
WORKING AT A RAILROAD MUSEUM.  WE WILL SEE HOW
THAT PANS OUT.  HE CANNOT GO TILL JULY 6 AS THAT
IS WHEN HIS GRADUATION PARTY IS.  THEY HAD TO
WORK AROUND HIS DAD'S SIDE OF THE FAMILY...THEY

HAD 6 GRADUATES THIS YEAR, LOL.
THAT'S ALL THERE IS FOLKS!
HUGS,

Hello, Lovlies.

We seem to be looking at a nice warm day, and a warmer one tomorrow, and a downright hot one on Monday. Springing into Summer?

We sat out on the porch and had cappuccinos yesterday morning but it was VERY noisy because they were mowing. Of course they not only mow our lawn but everyone elses, so the noise never stops. Then they come by and blow the clippings, which is noisy too. This time they trimmed bushes. It was very loud half a block away. When they came to trim our lilacs we stayed to "supervise" but then gave up and went inside. Of course half an hour later they were done and it was quiet, but we didn't try again. ha.

I had been thinking I needed to trim at least one of the three bushes, but they did a nice job on all three, and then came back and picked up the clippings. I'd been worried that they would just leave the clippings because that would have been challenging for us ~ dumb as that sounds. Anyway, it does look better, and maybe we can enjoy coffee or cappuccino on the porch this morning without the noise.

Not a lot on our agenda for today. Marcela cleaned the house on Wednesday and it already looks like it need to be cleaned again! Some weeks everythings looks freshley cleaned for at least a week, and others like this week it was dirty the next day! I need to vacuum and Bona the wood floor and go over the granite and black glass and maybe more. One of our neighbors wants to come for tea tomorrow to ask us about helping the HOA with our "Computer skills". Since my computer skills have diminished to almost nothing AND since we are not big boosters of the HOA, I think she may be disappointed. Then of course we will feel bad if we say no, but ~ well, we'll see. I've talked to her twice and she seems like a very nice woman, but she's definitely an 'organizer', and you know me well enough that I don't want to be 'organized'. Ha. Mike can ignore things like this with ease, but I always feel obligated. We'll just have to see. I would like to get to know her better, but I don't want to be absorbed into the world of our HOA Committees.

Anyway, I'd like the house to look nice before she comes, so cleaning I must do. Jack's grandparents (My niece Mary Ann and her hubby Benji) are coming for an overnight visit on Tuesday, so hopefully the house will stay clean for them, too. They will be staying for the week in Denver with her mom (my sister-in-law, Alice) but Alice has a one bedroom apartment and they have to sleep on air mattresses. That's fine, but I think they might enjoy having their own Guest Suite and real bed for at least one night ~ and of course we will love seeing them.

Lou Ann, I had to share the link to Walleye Weekend with Mike.  He is soooo jealous!     I hope your weather holds out.

Hooray for good bloodwork results!   I'm with you ~ I push the envelope as far as I can.  Mine was 2.9 again yesterday.  It's been staying in range for a fairly long time with 5mg a day except on Saturday, when it's 2.5mg.  I'll take it!

Jordan is SO cute ~ great pictures of the Graduation!
Wow ~ only 6 graduates.  He could really feel like he stare is!

Waving at everone else.
Have a lovely day.
