(Date Posted:12/29/2013 5:08 PM)

I AM STILL NOT FEELING UP TO PAR, THOUGH AM SOME BETTER.

I DID SLEEP LAST NIGHT AND OFF AND ON ALL DAY.

MY FRAME OF MIND IS NOT BETTER SO I WILL NOT SAY ANY

MORE.  I THOUGHT MY FRIENDS WOULD AT LEAST CALL AND

CHECK ON MY...BUT THEY THINK I MAKE IT UP SO THAT I DO

NOT GET TOGETHER.  WHY WOULD I NOT GET TOGETHER??

I KNOW THAT SOME OF IT IS ANXIETY OVER PHYSICAL CRAP

AND THE FACT THAT EVEN WHEN WE ARE TOGETHER I FEEL

ALONE.  BUT I DO NOT GET SICK ON PURPOSE.

HUGS, LOU ANN

THANKS FOR LETTING ME VENT.

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:12/30/2013 8:33 AM)

Hello.   We DID it!  We got the Christmas tree down and the Morning Room put back to rights.  We still have the stuffed animals on the mantle in the Man Cave but they will be easy to take down and we may wait until New Year's Eve day.

Those of you intelligent people who have boxes of similar sized ornaments could have taken down the tree in 45 minutes.  Most of our ornaments are one of a kind, most without boxes so I've been wrapping them and keeping them with tags telling when and where we got them and from whom (Mike to DJ,  DJ to Mike, at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco or in the Amanas, Us from the nieces, etc).  This year when I went to put things back I couldn't find more than half of the little bags and tags.  I hate that ~ at some point we're going to forget who and when and where!   Anyway, it too me two hours, with Mike taking them off of the tree and me trying to wrap and store them in the three plastic tubs.    It took us three hours total to get everything down and put away, and this is only a 4' tree!   Still, it wasn't too bad, and more importantly, it's DoNE!

I also got a load of laundry (towels) done.  Progress!   (No, I still haven't done December's budget and it's almost time to make January's deposit.  Help!!   When I try to do two months of budget at one time you will hear my screams from here!

We were going to do some shopping today for our New Year's Eve dinner and then to Costco to stock up on some of the big items, but Mike just decided he'd rather wait until later in the week to do the Costco run.  I may not go with him to get the groceries.  We just need a few things for the stroganoff and some T.P.   I have more than plenty to keep me busy at home.    I need to try to reschedule Marcela, too.  She's scheduled to come on New Year's Day at 9AM.   Not so sure any of us are going to feel like bounding out of bed at 7 on New Years Day!    Lots of little stuff to do, but I feel more on top of things than I have in a while ~~~ Oooh.  Tempt the Fates much, Dorothy?  Now just watch me fall behind!  Ha!

It was so bitterly cold yesterday and snowed the night before ~~ now it's supposed to be in the 50s for the rest of the week!  Can you believe that?  Crazy.  Either someone shoveled our walk and driveway for us or the Western sun melted it, because when I came up front it was all dry.  Sherri's and Sue's places (across the street and facing North) were completely covered with snow, and all the homes facing south were clear.  That's the way it used to be at our old house.  We'd have snow forever and the folks facing us would have none.  Really irritating!  Still, I'm thinking some kindly soul may have shoveled for us because it was bone dry.  So many good people around here.  I used to shovel neighbor's walks when they were out of town on vacation when I lived in Omaha, so maybe I stored up some Karma.  Ha

Aw, Lou Ann I'm sorry you still aren't feeling great.   I have to admit I did think about how you are frequently uncomfortable when you have get-togethers in other's homes because of no recliner or an uncomfortable one, still far more important is just getting out of the house and sharing time with your friends.   I know you aren't saying you are sick to avoid going ~~ if you didn't want to go, you'd just say so for Pete's sake.   I'm sure they are disappointed not to be able to spend time with you.  I'm sure they really know you want to be with them, too.   I just hate that it didn't work out.

Try to make it a great day anyway!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Actually, that's not really true.   Over all, 2013 was a pretty good year.    We lost Mike's brother Tom, which is still hard to come to terms with, but we made new friends and we added a great-great nephew and niece and stayed relatively healthy.

Yesterday we got the rest of the Christmas decorations taken down and put away, so we're ready for the New Year.  The outside decorations are still up and the Christmas cards are still in the little sleigh card holder, but otherwise you wouldn't know Christmas had been here.    I also got another load of laundry washed, folded and put away so now all the laundry in the whole house is done `~~~ for this 10 minutes.

Tonight our long time tradition is for me to make stroganoff with noodles and Harvard beets.   We used to serve it with black bread, but this year Mike has decided he wants croissants.    His comment: "Well, they are French".   My response: "What do the French have to do with our Russian menu?"  lol    We're having pink champagne with it.

I just asked Marcela if she'd mind coming on Thursday instead of tomorrow so we don't have to bound out of bed at the crack of dawn.  Not that we're doing anything exciting.   We'll just watch our "Pride and Prejudice" DVD (all 6 hours of it) and maybe a little of the New Year's party on Fox in between.   Denver has  a fireworks display at 9 and again at midnight, which we can see from our deck (or more likely from our warm Great Room).   Still, we'll stay up late and enjoy a lazy day tomorrow.

I learned that the angel who shoveled our walk and driveway was Barb.  She said she thought if she did it early everything would dry quickly in the sun, and it did.   God Bless her ~ real good!

Mike is making for breakfast (brunch) this morning ~ his famous cheesy scrambled eggs in a croissant.  Probably my favorite breakfast!

I hope 2014 brings you nothing but good, happy and healthy things, dear friend.
