December, from decem, Latin for ten.
The earliest Latin calender was a 10 month one, beginning with March,
thus, September was the 7th month, October the 8th and so forth.  July
was  originally called Quintilis-5th, August was called Sextilis-6th.

The Full Moon on the 17th is called "Cold Moon" by the Native Americans.
Because at this time of year, the nights are long, the days short and so
less sunlight means more cold days.

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:11/30/2013 11:47 PM)

WELL IT IS NOT MIDNIGHT YET SO NOT OFFICIALLY DECEMBER, BUT I WANT
TO SHUT DOWN SO WANTED TO BE FIRST TO SAY WELCOME TO DECEMBER.
I AM GOING TO DO MY BEST TO INFUSE MYSELF WITH THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT.
SO YOU WILL SEE ALL CHRISTMAS BORDERS AND TAGS.  JANUARY IS SOON
ENOUGH FOR SNOW BORDERS AND TAGS, LOL.  BESIDES, ALL OURS HAS
MELTED.  WE HAD A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING MADE FOR US BY MY
SISTER DIANE AND SHE DID A FABULOUS JOB.  I HAD THE MOISTEST WHITE
MEAT EVER.  IT WAS A BUTTERBALL TURKEY.  DO NOT KNOW IF THAT WAS
WHY OR NOT.
I TOOK A FALL TODAY AND MY LEFT LEG/KNEE AND ARM ARE HURTING.  NOT
HORRIBLY.  I DID TAKE EXTRA STRENGTH TYLENOL BUT IT DID NOT HELP.
I AM SURE IT WILL GET BETTER IN TIME.  I WAS DOING SOME REARRANGING
IN MY BEDROOM TO MAKE ROOM FOR A CHAIR AND A TREE FROM THE LIVING
ROOM.  i CAUGHT MY FOOT ON THE EDGE OF THE CARPET AND DOWN I WENT.
I WAS HAPPY TO LEARN THAT I COULD GET UP BY MYSELF FROM THE FLOOR.
NOT EASILY AND CERTAINLY PAINFULLY, STILL, I DID IT!  JOSH IS COMING
TOMORROW TO PUT UP OUR NEW TREE.  MOM GOT ONE WITH COLORED
LIGHTS AND HE IS TAKING THE ONE WITH WHITE LIGHTS HOME AND MY
SISTER JOANNE IS GOING TO USE IT THIS YEAR.  SHE GAVE IT TO US
ANYWAY SO THAT WORKS OUT WELL.  I HOPE HE DOES NOT HAVE A LOT
OF TROUBLE FINDING THE DECORATIONS, ETC IN THE BASEMENT.  SO I AM
LOOKING FORWARD TO TOMORROW.  I DID GO GET MY BLOOD DRAW
TODAY BUT THEY MUST NOT HAVE GOTTEN THE RESULTS BEFORE THEY
CLOSED SO I WILL HERE FROM THEM ON MONDAY.
CHAT WITH YOU TOMORROW.
HUGS,

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:12/01/2013 12:23 AM)

Ho! Ho! Ho!    It's December!   How did that happen so quickly?

We enjoyed our brief visit with Laine.   It went by too quickly.  On Friday instead of hitting the Black Friday sales, she helped Mike put up the Christmas tree, and after she left today, Mike and I finished decorating it.   We still have a little work to do in the rest of the house and to put the ornament tubs back in the garage, but it's great to have the tree up.   We ran into some more problems with the outside lighting and I'm going to have to call and complain on Monday.  Hopefully they will fix at least the most obvious, a string of lights that doesn't work on the outside tree.  The other issues probably can't be fixed unless I pitch a real fit, which I won't do.

I have one gift I ordered that the tracking information said was delivered on Friday, and it wasn't, so I'm going to have to fight with that company and/or the Post Office, too.  Hopefully these things won't put me in a Bah, Humbug mood.

Laine had to leave at 7 AM to get to the airport and through security for her 10 AM flight.   We had breakfast rolls before she left ~ so we had to get up very early, too.  After she left I fell asleep in the chair watching a Christmas movie.  Having company is great, but it wears us Old Folks out these days ~ lol

So much to do before Christmas ~ I don't have the Christmas letter written or the cards addressed or some of the gifts ordered, and I haven't mailed the Christmas ornaments for Jack and Lucy to put on their trees yet ~~ and all I want to do is curl up and read or watch TV.  Guess THAT won't be happening.

smiley8

Oooh, beautiful, beautiful 'skin', Lou Ann, and a great December thread too!  Thank you so much.   It's all just lovely!

I'm glad you had a great Thanksgiving, but sorry to hear you fell.  Owwee!  At least, as you say, you could get up on your own.  I can't, and that little fact gives me a really bad fear of falling ~ or walking anywhere that I might be likely to fall.  I envision myself wallering out in the middle of the street, unable to get up.  Not a pretty image.

Now tomorrow we'll both be singing "Deck the halls . . .".  Ours is mostly done, for which I am really thankful.  I know Laine cut a couple of hours out of the process for us, helping to bring the boxes in from the garage and set up the tree and add the extra lights.  Mike and I are soooo slow.

This afternoon, after we had the tree up, we brought a drink into the little front room where it will live for the Christmas Season, turned the tree lights on and watched the movie 'Scrooged'.  T'was nice.  The outside lights went on and we could see them and the tree lights reflected in the window and the mirror.  Many of our neighbors put up lights too.  It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Then we closed the door so the cats can't rummage in the tree over night and went into the great room and had dinner and watched the Albert Finney (musical) Scrooge.  Definitely puts you in a great mood.

Have fun getting your halls decked!

I am so glad you enjoyed your time with Laine and that she was
able to help with some of your decorating.  That was really nice of
her. I know having company wears you out.  It is all the change
in routine and the stress of wanting everything to be just right.
Joanne and Josh stopped in this afternoon on their way to go
shopping.  Josh put the chair and tree in my room, Joanne
vacuumed and Josh put the tree together.  Then they were on
their way.  Then Suz, Jordan and one of his friends stopped in to
put some venison in the freezer.  While they were here they put
up the outside lights.  Then they were gone.  I then spent about
1/2 hour spreading out the branches on the tree.  We are
enjoying the colored lights.  Tomorrow I will see what I can
do about getting the ornaments on the tree.  Mom wants me to
start wrapping presents and I need to get the Christmas Cards
going and out.  The house needs cleaning too.  So much to do
and so little time for us slowpokes.  Then some where in there
we need to fit in the baking and candy making.  So the more we
get done early, the more we will be able to enjoy Christmas
and not feel stressed.  I still need to find sister gifts.  I do not
think the knit scarves are going to happen.  I thought I could
deal with it but I am not a knitter and this ribbon yarn I have
no clue how to use.  So I have to come up with something else.
So I hope you have a Magnificent Monday.
Hugs,

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:12/02/2013 11:46 AM)

Good Morning.

I'm getting in a little later than I'd planned this morning.  First my email Inbox was overflowing with Cyber Monday deals.  If you are looking for any bargains from various outlets, check with me ~ I may have a 'deal' for you!

Then I got a phone call from my first cousin's daughter (I know she wouldn't be my second cousin, but I never know what level that is).   Her mom passed away this morning.  There were three of us 'girl cousins' left, and I think there is one more 'boy cousin', but I'm not close to him.   My other cousin, Betty, is the one who had a stroke and was left nearly blind.  I was the youngest, closer to the age of their kids.   Candy would have been 91 the end of this month, and was only really sick for a couple of days, which was such a blessing.  One of her grandsons lives nearby and was with her when she died.  Anyway, I just followed up with emails to the remaining family members and will call Betty when I am through posting.

I also called the Landscaping Company about our bad outside decorations, and they will call us back and make arrangements to come out and fix them.   I hope they don't wait too long.  I'm going to be really upset if they don't get it done today.

We had horrible winds last night (70-80 mph), but the outside decorations all stayed in place.   Still, I'm irritated enough about the way things were done and how much time WE have had to spend trying to fix them that I'm not sure will do it again next year.  It definitely isn't cheap, and if it isn't done right and problem-free, I'm not so sure whether we will do it again next year.  We do enjoy it and get lots of compliments, but . . .     We'll see.

I did exchange emails with the other company whose tracking information said my package was delivered on Friday, and it wasn't.  They were very nice and said it was supposed to be delivered today ~~ in Florida!   I believe "Greg" will follow up and get it straightened out.  This isn't the first time something like that has happened when things were sent via the Post Office.  My package was in Aurora one day, and in Florida the next.   I remember another time, from another vendor, when our order was actually in Denver one day, and should have come to us later that day or at least the next, but the next thing I heard it was in Albuquerque!

Anyway, this has been the start of my day, and welcome to it.

Temperatures are "interesting".  65 today, 40 with snow tomorrow, 10 with snow on Wednesday and 13 with snow on Thursday.  Naturally Marcela comes on Wednesday and we have to go out on Thursday and Friday.   I still have that Thing on my tongue and must go to the Periodontist on Thursday.   I'm dreading it more than i can tell you.  Please feel free to pray for me.   Then on Friday I have a haircut.

We did finish the decorations, such as they are, so no as soon as the outside decorations are fixed, we're done ~~ with decorations anyway.  Really need to scramble on everything else. Inside, we have about 1/10th or less of what we used to put up, but since it's just the two of us and we aren't entertaining anymore, it seems to be enough.

Lou Ann, Hooray that you got the things moved into your bedroom, and the tree up and the outside decorations done!   Your family really is great about helping you.   I know how much work just getting the ornaments on is.  Ours is only a four footer and it still took a whole lot of sitting in between 'putting'.  Ha.  I do miss the bigger tree, especially because we have so many lovely ornaments we can't use on the little one, but we barely have the 'steam' for this one.

How big is your new tree?

I haven't started the cards either.  Tick tock.  lol   We still have things to order for out of town shipping, but at least I don't have to wrap them and then get them ready for mailing and get them mailed anymore.   We'll get there.

I haven't baked in the last few years.  I know Mike would like me to at least make some of the favorite cookies, but it's going to have to depend on how much I get done, how tired I get, and of course what news I get on Thursday.  I don't do at all well with things medical.

Good luck figuring out those Sister Gifts.

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN

I got an email that the missing package returned from Tampa was out for delivery, so I should have it this afternoon AND the Landscaper arrived and spent about an hour putting everything with our outside lights to rights!   The light string that was out miraculously was on when he turned the lights on ~ maybe the terrible winds last night "fixed" them.  He still found several more broken lights and replaced them, so hopefully it will continue working.    Then he fixed the center wreath so it looks good and put both sides of the lights on the same timer, so everything should come on at the same time ~~ YAY!

Now if my Thursday appointment goes better than I am anticipating, life will be good again.

I called my cousin Betty to tell her about our cousin Candy.  She didn't know and felt terrible about it.   We had a nice visit and decided that rather than buying each other Christmas gifts, we would bake cookies for each other.   She is very nearly blind, but she's baking rum balls for her grandson-in-law who loves them.   So does Mike.  She lines everything she needs up on the counter and uses her magnifying glass to read the recipe.  She says it takes her half a day to make them, but she's doing them.  That is so 'Betty'.  She never met an obstacle that could take her down.   I feel funny asking for cookies, but I know she will feel good making and sending them and knowing we will love them.   On the other hand, now I have to make cookies again this year, too!   Mike is delighted ~~ the stinker!

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:12/02/2013 11:09 PM)

I am so sorry for your loss.  It really does suck growing old.  We break
down more and we lose more family and friends.  It is not easy.  That's
why they say growing old is not for sissies!  You and your family are in
my prayers and I said another for your tongue.  Keep calm and carry on!
Well, what can I say.  You already know about the ornament devastation

that this major klutz created.  I will get over it, but it will take some time.
Because mom made me quit, there are no ornaments on the tree yet.  But
I will be tackling it tomorrow after I pay the bills.  Finances first....ornament
destruction 2nd.  After the tree is decorated, then it is Christmas Cards.
When that is done, then it is wrapping presents and baking goodies.  I am
happy to hear you too will be baking goodies.  You can do it.  Just as your
cousin does and I do.  I gather everything in advance.  You will work from
the table so you can sit.  Then take a little break.  Then come back and
make your cookies or whatever.  Do not forget to preheat your oven!
Sit in between things.  You will do fine.  Mom and I manage and if we
can, then you can.
I went and had my blood draw on Saturday and when no one called me
by 1pm I called there.  They had not gotten the lab report so she found
it and said she would print it out and give it to a pharmacist.   So then
they did call and yay!!!!  2.54  Right smack dab in the middle of my
goal range.  No changes and recheck 3 weeks.  Dec 23rd...we will see.
Going to go get myself a snack now.
Have a tantalizing Tuesday!
Hugs,

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:12/03/2013 10:22 AM)

Good Morning.

We're heading into cold and snow starting this afternoon and for the rest of the week.  Since Wednesday will be the snowiest and the temps are expected to be in the low teens and below (ice!), I'm thinking of trying to reschedule that appointment with the Periodontist from Thursday morning to next week if I can.   Putting it off because it scares me, or protecting my chauffeur from stress a possible accident?  Maybe a bit of both ~ what a couple of Wusses we've turned into.  Ha.

I should get the Norwex things I ordered at the party late this afternoon.  I'm anxious to try them and see if they really are good.  On the other hand, who am I kidding?  How much cleaning will I REALLY do?

Marcela comes tomorrow.  I hope she doesn't have to fight too much snow getting here.

smiley4

Lou Ann, thanks for your sympathy.  Apparently my cousin Candy had been in Assisted Living for a few weeks, something I hadn't known, but she was only really sick for two days.  That really is such a blessing. One of her grandsons had moved nearby late last year and was able to be with her.  That's also a real blessing.

She was a lovely, warm, caring lady and even though we didn't talk often, I'll miss knowing she is there.   Almost 91 is a good, long life, and for most of it she was in pretty good health.  In the last few years age has taken a bit of a toll, she wasn't getting around as well as she had been, began using a walker and she had to give her dog to her daughter.  I know that broke her heart.  But otherwise, she was still doing well and living a good life.

I used to make at least half a dozen different Norwegian cookies every Christmas.  The last couple of years I've been down to . . . none . . . even with Mike giving me the sad puppy dog eyes.  Ha.     My cousin Betty makes the most wonderful biscotti, light and crisp and delicious, and delicious rum balls.  She also used to make all sorts of different cookies, and I do feel guilty asking for our two favorites, particularly since I know how hard biscotti are to make.   I tried them once.  A lot of work and mine weren't all that good.  Nevertheless, that's what I requested.   She asked for my Cranberry Noel (shortbread cookies with dried cranberries and nuts and coconut) and Pecan tarts.  So neither of us got off too easy ~ lol.   It will be good for me, and hopefully not too hard for her.

Mike's face is already smiling. smiley93

I did read about the tragedy of the ornaments.  What an awful thing to happen ~ and as I said, it could easily happen to anyone.   I know how bad you feel.   I would too.   I'm glad your mom is ok with it.

I'm glad you got a good blood draw.  Mine was a bit high last time, 3.4, but no one from the Dr's office called me about it.   I'll do the next one on Friday, and I've had salad three times since the last draw, so it should be fine.  I was so steady for so long, and now I'm all over the place.  Sheesh.

I haven't started cards yet, either, and I need to get the ornaments off to Jack and Lucy and I want to find something for Aaron & Christina since they are pre-baby and won't be getting a Baby's first or second Christmas ornament.      I also need to come up with an appetizer to take to the neighborhood Christmas party a week from Saturday, though of course I won't make it yet, whatever it is.

I hope everything goes perfectly with the rest of your tree trimming!

OMG, Dorothy...you jinxed me, lol.    You may or may not have read my latest
attack on Christmas.  I broke our tree topper today.  I was sure I could get it on
there with my grabber.  But that was a disaster.  It fell, hitting the marble slab
that sits on the radiator.  It shattered all over the place.  At least this was not old
and it was mine.  Still, I was so irritated that I quit again.  Then I texted Suz to
see if she had time to get on a stool and put the small ornaments on the top of
the tree so that I would not break any more with my grabber.  She came over
and did it.  So first thing tomorrow I will be working on finishing the tree.  I will
do it and I will not break anything else.  Haha, famous last words.
I did pay the bills this morning, but I need to work on Mom's checkbook.  Last
month I did not as mom said she got it to balance and this month it is way off.
So I am afraid I will be having to go back 2 months.  I hope it is a simple fix
but something tells me it will not be.
Then we have the lighted garlands to put over the doors.  And so much more.
I think I had better make a list and start checking things off.  Or I will get lost
and feel overloaded.  It is manageable, even if we have to take lots of breaks.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Oops, somehow I lost part of my border.  What a ding dong.
Hugs,

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:12/04/2013 10:09 PM)

Moms checkbook took forever.  All morning until I
discovered what she had done.  She had rewritten part of her checkbook in another book and when she did that she wrote outstanding checks in it and then started it with when I had balanced it last, since she never wrote balance when she did it.  The problem was she listed the outstanding checks after the last checkbook balance and resubtracted them.  What a mess.  I am still $10 off and cannot find it.  I finally went with the bank balance even though I hate doing that.  Maybe when the statement comes I will see something I missed.  So I did start decorating the rest of the tree.  It is about 75% done.  I will finish it in the morning.  I can only stand a couple minutes at a time and it makes it very hard.  Then will put up the doorway garlands.  That will be my morning.  My afternoon will be tweaking the Christmas Card list.
We need to eliminate some names and change some addresses, etc.  Then I am going to use the printer and put our names on them.  And maybe moms Christmas note if that would work out.
Turns out that I am not the only Christmas Ornament Killer.  Jordan was here today and was
hanging a Merry Christmas Lighted Decoration in the front window.  He managed to knock an ornament off the tree and it shattered all over.  It was an old one of Mary's.  Mom just said...well, when all these ornaments are gone it will give us an excuse to get new ones. :D
I forgot to tell you that they found the body of the missing man.  His wife told them where to find him.
She shot him and disposed of the body.  They let her sister go, but they are not convinced that she did not help get rid of the body.  The odd thing is that she said she shot him twice in the chest.  But he was shot twice in the head.  Very odd to lie, when the body would tell the truth.
We are having unseasonably warm weather and rain and very gloomy days...I am thankful that it is not snow, lol.  Otherwise we would be buried.  Still, I would like to see the sun.
Well, time to get something else done before the night is shot.
Have a great Thursday.

Ho! Ho! Ho!   We got Snow and it's soooo cold!

I got my delivery of the Norwex products yesterday afternoon, and I'm kind of anxious to start using them.  Our neighbor, Lisa, is the Consultant and she seems really nice.   We visited a little bit and I hope we can have her and Richard over for a glass of wine and a chance to get acquainted sometime.

One of our other neighbors had her order shipped to me so she wouldn't have to pay postage for just one item, so I need to get that to her.  I'm not going to even try tomorrow, but i'm hoping she can wait until Friday when we have to go to get my haircut.

After Lisa left, Mike and I put on some Christmas music and had a drink in front of the tree, then we had dinner and put the Patrick Stewart Scrooge on, also in front of the tree.   Nice evening.  I'd been so stressed all day I was more than up for a nice evening.....AND a drink.

Around 8 PM it started to snow, and it really came down.   By 11 PM the temp had already dropped to 18 degrees, and it was heading lower.    At 7 this morning it was 5 degrees with a wind chill of 6 below zero.   Brrrrr.   We didn't get nearly as much snow as they had predicted, but enough to cover everything very well, and a cold as it is, it isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I did change that Periodontist appointment to Friday, so I'll get my hair cut, then mail some packages and then go to that appt.  L

Lou Ann, I'm glad you got your mom's checkbook mostly straightened out.  I have enough trouble just doing my own and the Budget Book.  I'd hate to have to do Mike's.

Well, El Destructo, it sounds lie you've made good progress on the decorating.  Believe me I understand about not being able to stand for long, and how much time that adds to getting the job done.   I'm sure it's going to be lovely.

OMG, the mystery of the murdered man ~ sounds like a novel I would read.  Definitely sounds "fishy", doesn't it?

Talk to you tomorrow.  I am really whumped tonight.

And a Frosty Good Morning to you All.

It's 5 degrees below zero right now (actual temperature, not wind chill), supposed to get all the way up to 10 degrees today, and possibly have some snow flurries.   Yesterday afternoon they had someone in a truck with a snow shoveler drive into the driveways and back out scraping the snow.  Needless to say, it didn't do a really great job of getting down to the pavement. He did also push the snow on the street in front of the houses ~ the city never actually shovels our streets unless we have a couple of feet of snow!   Then the human shovelers came and shoveled the walks.  As cold as it is, nothing is going to melt for a long time, and walking on the drive to take the trash to the curb or pick up mail is going to be bad.

We decided not to take the trash or recycles to the curb and to wait until Friday to pick up our mail.   We're just not good with the icy driveway ballet.    Later in the afternoon, the doorbell rang and it was Barbara with our mail and she said if we'd open the garage, she'd take our Trash and Recycle cans to the curb for us.  I know she will bring them back to the garage for us today, so I can easily bring them in.   We are soooo lucky!

It's the 5th of December, and I have managed to somehow put myself so far behind that I may never catch up.  Hard to believe, because we are doing so little ~ how can I possibly be in catch up mode?   Aarrgghh.

We decided to get Aaron and Christina a gift certificate from Babies R Us. which will give them a gift that is around the same value as the baby gifts we gave Jack and Lucy.  Clearly they love to shop ~ they've made it impossible for me to find anything left to buy!  lol     We'll also send them a LITTLE something for Christmas, and then after the little one is here, future Christmas gifts will be for him.

We'll get Jack and Lucy's ornaments off to them tomorrow when we're out, and everyone else's gifts are ordered and will be sent from the company's we ordered them from ~~~ except Betty's.  I still haven't figured out a way to get out of baking, but I have to wait until we go shopping for groceries on Friday.   Then Marcela comes Saturday morning, so I won't be getting this done early.   Everything I have to do is scrunching together next week.   Poor me!   Lol.

Whatever happens at the Periodontist's tomorrow, I am not going to add in a bunch of Dr appts between now and Christmas.  Whatever it is can jolly well wait until after the first.

Enjoy your lack of snow, Lou Ann, while it lasts.  I see Minnesota is getting buried!   We lucked out too ~ so far.  We only got a couple of inches I think, but as cold as it is, it will be lasting for a while.  They got a whole lot more in the mountains, but the ski resorts love it so they are happy.

Maybe I can get Mike to drive around the neighborhood in the evening while the snow is still here so I can get a picture of our outside lights.   I hope the mixture of multi-colored lights on the trees and white lights on the house looks good.   I need to get a picture of the wreath Mary Ann made for us too.   It's so nice to be able to hang it on the front door instead of the side of the house leading to the door.

Have a great day.

I was wrong.   9 News on Facebook just corrected me ~~~

The mercury dropped to -15 degrees at Denver International Airport just before 6 a.m. Thursday, tying the record-low temperature for Dec. 5, set in 1972.  They were showing a wind chill of 29 below zero.

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:12/05/2013 9:43 PM)

THE CHRISTMAS TREE IS DONE...EXCEPT FOR THE ANGEL THAT ARRIVES TOMORROW.  THANK GOD FOR AMAZON PRIME.  ONCE SHE IS ATOP THE TREE I WILL GET A PICTURE.  I DID NOT OVER DUE IT THIS YEAR...WHICH SADDENS ME.  BUT I THINK THERE ARE JUST ENOUGH AND MOM IS HAPPY WITH IT.  SUZ AND JORDAN STOPPED BY TO PUT UP THE DOOR GARLANDS AND PUT THE SKIRT ON THE TREE....AS WE COULD NOT GET DOWN TO DO IT.  I AM SAD TO SAY THAT THERE IS NOW ONLY 1 OF MOMS OLD ORNAMENTS LEFT.   UNLESS WE SHOULD FIND SOME IN THE LOST CHRISTMAS BOXES BUT I DOUBT IT.
SO, TOMORROW IS CHRISTMAS CARDS....CAN I GET THEM ALL  DONE IN ONE DAY?  NOT LIKELY.  BY THE TIME I FIGURE   OUT HOW TO PRINT OUR NAMES ON THE CARDS IT WILL BE LATE.  I ALSO HAVE TO REMEMBER HOW TO PRINT THE ADDRESS  LABELS, I REALLY SHOULD MAKE MYSELF A CHEAT SHEET.  I WILL HAVE TO LOOK IT UP IN THE HELP SECTION, THE SAME AS I HAVE TO EVERY YEAR, LOL.
ARRRGGGHHHHHHHH.
I ORDERED 2 PACKER HATs ON EBAY.  THE PACKAGE ARRIVED TODAY AND IT ONLY CONTAINED 1 HAT.  SO I WROTE THE SELLER HOPING HE COULD GET ANOTHER OFF TO ME QUICKLY ...THEN I SAW THAT IT HAD BEEN SHIPPED FROM HAWAII.  I GOT AN AUTO RESPONSE FROM SELLER THAT HE IS OUT OF OFFICE ON SICK LEAVE UNTIL THE 11TH.  WHAT?  OMG, I BOUGHT THESE HATS FOR LEIGH'S BOYS, JAKE AND BEN.  I GOT THEM MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR CHRISTMAS AND I WAS GOING TO PUT THE SUBSCRIPTION CARD IN EACH HAT AND SEND TO THEM.  LAST YEAR I GOT THEM SUBSCRIPTIONS AND I SENT A COPY OF THE MAGAZINE WRAPPED TO TELL THEM.  BUT JAKE'S IS A RENEWAL SO I CANNOT DO THAT.  SUZ IS GOING TO LOOK IN TOWN FOR ME FOR A HAT LIKE THE ONE I GOT AND I
HOPE FOR A REASONABLE PRICE AS THESE WERE ABOUT HALF THE PRICE THAT MOST WERE GOING FOR AND IS ACTUALLY VERY NICE.  THERE DEFINITELY ARE DRAWBACKS FOR SHOPPING ON LINE.  I LOVE AMAZON PRIME, BUT I ALSO SEE YOU CAN GET THE ITEMS CHEAPER FROM OTHER SELLERS...SO I LOOK TO SEE HOW MUCH MORE THE SHIPPING IS TO SEE IF IT IS STILL LESS.  THEN I CONSIDER THE 2 DAY SHIPPING AND AMAZON ALMOST ALWAYS WINS.
ARKANSAS IS EXPECTING AN ICE STORM.  THEY HAVE PREPPED FOR BEING HOME BOUND WITH OUT HEAT AND ELECTRICITY.  I HOPE IT DOES NOT COME TO THAT.  THEY HAVE A KEROSENE HEATER WITH PLENTY OF FUEL AND ALL THE OTHER NECESSITIES.  I DO NOT RECALL HIM SAYING THEY HAVE A GENERATOR.  SO IF ELECTRIC GOES, THEY MAY BE IN TROUBLE...SCHOOLS AND MOST WORK ARE ALREADY SHUT DOWN.  SO SAY A LITTLE PRAYER THAT THINGS DO NOT GET TOO BAD.  FINGERS CROSSED.
OOPS, I FORGOT THE BIG NEWS....KIRSTIE AND NICK ARE HAVING A BOY!!!!  TO SOON FOR RISSA AND MATT TO KNOW.
HUGS,

and one for Dorothy

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN

Good Morning.

Thank you so much for the darling tag ~ and border!  I love them both.

Busy day today and not my best day ever.   Started with a much needed haircut.   I said "short" and she cut it short.  Not gonna look my best, if such a creature exists, at the party on Saturday.

Then we mailed the ornaments for Jack and Lucy and went on to my appointment at the periodontist.  The Thing is still there and apparently worrisome.  She could do a biopsy but preferred to have me make an appointment with an oral surgeon, which I did for AFTER Christmas.  I'm not sure how great Christmas will be, but I am sure how great it likely would not be if I went for a biopsy before Christmas.   So I have an appointment for a pathology evaluation on Jan 8th and then if things go as I so hope they won't but fear they will, I'll make an appointment for a biopsy.  Ater that, who knows.   I won't think about it tonight.  I'll worry about it tomorrow.
Love & Kisses, Scarlet O'Hara

Next we went for groceries for me to bake cookies with.   My Cardiologist's office finally called and reduced my dosage to half a pill on both Saturday and Wednesday.   She said stress could be causing my higher numbers.  Good thing we're lowering the dosage cuz I don't see the stress going away anytime soon.

When the lights went on, we went out and took some pictures.   Then listened to Christmas music and watched the Denver Parade of Lights in front of the tree.

Tomorrow (Saturday) morning, Marcela is supposed to come if she is feeling better, so I have to get up and at 'em.

Did you get the angel and finish off the tree?  I'll bet everything looks lovely.  Maybe you should put your mom's one remaining ornament in a glass case or something to preserve it?

I still haven't started cards, but I have to bake for Betty and then make appetizers for the party on Saturday first.  Then on to the cards, stress levels permitting.

How frustrating and annoying that you only got the one Packer's hat!  I hope you can get another one in time.

The Denver Parade of Lights was tonight ~ I can't imagine standing out in that cold.   Some 4000 people lost electricity and gas.  The Electricity is back on, the gas is not.  I hope their pipes don't freeze, not to mention the people themselves!

I didn't see.  Did Arkansas get the ice storm?  Lose power?   Miserable.

Have a great day.

RE:DECEMBER SIGN IN
(Date Posted:12/07/2013 1:36 AM)

FIRST OFF, I AM SORRY THAT YOU HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE WITH THIS TONGUE ISSUE, I WOULD DO EXACTLY AS YOU ARE DOING WITH WAITING TILL AFTER THE 1ST OF THE YEAR.  I WILL KEEP PRAYING THAT ALL WILL BE WELL.  I AM SURE YOUR HAIR WILL BE FINE FOR THE PARTY.  DO NOT LET YOUR HAIR HAMPER YOUR ENJOYMENT OF THE PARTY.  NO WORRYING ON IT.  OK?  I HOPE THAT MARCELA IS FEELING BETTER AND ABLE TO COME CLEAN.
MY SISTER ONLY STOPPED IN QUICKLY AS SHE HAD TAKEN HER ELDEST TO THE DOCTOR AND SHE HAD HIM WITH HER SO THE ANGEL IS HERE BUT NOT ON THE TREE YET.  JORDAN DID A CRAPPY JOB PUTTING THE TREE SKIRT ON AND IT IS ALL BUNCHED UP TO THE BACK OF THE TREE AND LOOKS TRASHY, SO WE WILL NEED TO GET THAT FIXED.  I AM WORKING ON A CENTERPIECE FOR THE DINING ROOM TABLE.  IT INVOLVES AND OLD PRESSED GLASS PEDESTAL BOWL I HAVE, BRIGHT BALL ORNAMENTS AND BEADED GARLAND.  I HOP IT WILL TURN OUT PRETTY.  IF IT DOES, I WILL TAKE A PIC, IF NOT, LOL, YOU WILL NOT SEE IT!
I DID PRINT OUT OUR CARD LIST AND WE WENT OVER AND ELIMINATED A FEW NAMES OF PEOPLE WE NEVER HEAR FROM AND SOME THAT HAVE PASSED IN THE LAST YEAR AND A GROUP THAT I WILL E-CARD THIS YEAR.  BUT I HAD NO LABELS LEFT TO PRINT ADDRESS ON.  SUZ WILL SHOP TOMORROW AND GET THEM FOR ME.
I FIGURED OUT HOW MANY CARDS NEED BOTH MOM AND MY NAME SIGNED, JUST MOMS AND JUST MINE SO TOMORROW I WILL SIGN
THE CARDS.  I DECIDED IT WAS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE OF FIGURING OUT HOW TO PRINT THEM ON THE PRINTER SINCE THE CARDS ARE NOT A STANDARD STOCK SIZE.  I WILL HAVE THEM ALL READY TO GO IN THE MAIL ON MONDAY.  ALSO PLAN TO WRAP PRESENTS THIS WEEKEND.  THAT WOULD LEAVE US WITH CLEANING AND BAKING AND CANDY MAKING AND OVER 2 WEEK TO DO IT IN.  I THINK WE ARE GOING TO BE FINE,,,
I DID FIND 2 KNIT PACKERS HATS ON AMAZON AT A LOW PRICE AND 2 DAY SHIPPING, BUT I AM SURE THEY ARE NOT AS NICE AS THE ONE I GOT ALREADY.  I WILL LET THE IDIOT IN HAWAII SEND ME THE OTHER ONE AS THERE ARE LOTS OF PACKER FANS IN THE FAMILY THAT WOULD LOVE THE HAT.  I WANTED TO SHIP THEM RIGHT TO LEIGH BUT COULD NOT BECAUSE THEY WOULD SHIP FREE AS AN ADD ON ITEM SO I HAD TO MAKE A PURCHASE EQUALING $25 FOR THEM TO BE ADDED ON.  SO THEY HAD TO SHIP TO ME WITH THE PURCHASE.  I COULD NOT SHIP THEM TO A DIFFERENT ADDRESS BECAUSE OF THEIR ADD ON STATUS.  BUT IF I GET THEM RIGHT BACK OUT IN THE MAIL I AM SURE
THEY WILL GET THEM IN TIME.
I MUST HAVE BEEN A NAUGHTY GIRL THIS YEAR  AS ST. NICK DID NOT BRING ME A PRESENT.  I SO WISH MY MOM WOULD GET INTO THE FUN OF LITTLE GIFTS FOR EVENTS.  I HAD A GIFT FOR HER BUT DID NOT GIVE IT.  I WILL HOLD IT FOR ANOTHER TIME.  WE USED TO DO A STOCKING FOR EACH OTHER BUT SHE STOPPED THAT TOO.  SHE JUST NEVER KNEW WHAT TO PUT IN IT.  I CAN THINK OF A MILLION THINGS TO PUT IN HERS BUT SHE CANNOT THINK OF ANYTHING TO PUT IN MINE.  WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BOOKS, COLOGNE, EARRINGS, PENS, PENCILS, CANDY, ETC.  STOCKINGS ARE EASY.  BUT NO...I NEVER GET ANYTHING THAT SHOWS THAT ANYONE KNOWS ME.  OH WELL.
DO NOT KNOW WHAT LEIGH'S AREA OF ARKANSAS GOT.  HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM TODAY.  A FRIEND OF MINE IN NORTHERN ARKANSAS SAID THEY GOT ABOUT 10 IN OF SNOW WITH A LAYER OF ICE UNDER IT ALL.  THEY LIVE ON A HILL AND CANNOT GO OUT ON THE ROAD.  I WROTE LEIGH AND IF NOTHING WHEN I GET UP IN THE MORNING WILL CALL TO SEE HOW HE IS.  CHAT WITH YOU TOMORROW.
HUGS,
