 The promos of few films are at times deceiving and this is what has precisely happened in the case of Kunal Kohli's Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic! The trailers of the film failed to generate sufficient interest in the film and Yash Raj's previous over-hyped film Tashan's failure only added to my resilience against expecting much from it. The magic of TPTM works as everyone yearns for love and wishes that their beloved would never leave them but what happens when they do? Do you stop living your life? Do you stop smiling forever? One has to move on and find happiness in someone else's joy. Holding on to anger, grudge, revenge gives anything but happiness and forgiveness is the key to bliss. TPTM is all about this and makes its point wonderfully without getting preachy or overtly sentimental. No one sympathises with the other in the film, yet it brings tears in your eyes to see four abandoned kids missing being in the company of their deceased parents, a man who has all the wealth in the world and can face any problem but cannot face his conscience which reminds him of his unforgivable mistake. To our relief the film doesn't have any twists and turns, nor has the director attempted to do anything weirdly different. He sticks to the method of narrating simple, subtle yet effective story-telling. The director doesn't hide to show that he is highly inspired by Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke and The Sound of Music either. The climax of the film could have been more effective but that doesn't take away anything from the movie. As far as the performances are concerned, Rani steals the show completely. She infuses life in the film with her verve and pep. She makes for a perfect angel. Saif looks and acts as dashing as ever. The couple's chemistry makes the film all the more likeable. (Watch out for their banters) The kids render a decent act too. Amisha Patel plays a dumb fashion slave who does nothing except for annoying you whenever she appears! Shankar Mahadevan's melodious music and touching lyrics add soul to the film... especially the song Pyaar Ke Liye. Watch the film to discover an angel in you. Cast a magic spell on yourself and shower your love on those who need it much more than you do...
