It is crucial that the youth be more responsible in their choices and in their everyday lives, said the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Sylvio Tang Wah Hing. The Minister was speaking yesterday(Sept 01) at the opening ceremony of a forum-debate on HIV/AIDS, Drugs and Sexuality held at the Municipality of Port Louis.In his address, Minister Tang Wah Hing highlighted the importance of the three themes on the agenda and added that sensitisation campaigns should be ongoing so as to keep the youth better informed about such themes. Moreover, the Minister made an appeal to parents whom he said should take out time for their children and talk freely about HIV/AIDS, drugs and sexuality. The forum-debate was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund for secondary school students of the region of Port Louis. The objective was to give an opportunity to young people to come forward and ask questions pertaining to HIV/AIDS, Drugs and Sexuality so that in the future they know what precautionary measures they will have to adopt. This will also prevent them from being infected by the HIV/AIDS virus, becoming drug addicts and avoiding early pregnancy. Around one hundred young people aged between 15 and 18 years attended the forum-debate.
